Asda Original Antibacterial Handwash
Advantages: Price, smells fresh, hands feel clean
Disadvantages: Not moistruising
I bought this handwash from Asda a few weeks ago when there were none of the branded handwashes on offer, generally I do stock up on the likes of Radox handwash when it's on offer so I bought this just to make do with until I saw an offer on.
I use handwash in my bathroom as I have a five year old daughter and I am trying to teach her about good hand hygiene however when I let her use a bar of soap she ended up having to chase it around the bathroom when it slipped from her hands.
The handwash cost me 55p for a 500ml bottle and of course it is only available from Asda stores, I think the hand wash is great value and even on offers the branded versions are much more expensive.
The bottle for the product is made of see through plastic so you can see the product inside the bottle which is a bright blue colour, there is a pump mechanism on the top of the bottle making it easy to administer apart from the first time you use it when the pump has to be turned and pumped a few times to activate it.
The hand wash is anti bacterial and moisturising at the same time as far as the claims on the bottle state and it will help to fight germs and bacteria. I find the fact that the hand wash is moisturising very important as I work as a carer and know the damage frequent handwashing can actually do to the skin if you are using harsh soap.
The pump is very easy to use and my five year old manages it without any problems, I like that it is easy for her to know how much to use with a pump too. You can close the pump after every use if you want to but to do this you have to press down and turn so you lose a pump worth of product every time you do this so we just leave the pump open. The soap has a lovely fresh smell to it although the smell doesn't really last long on your hands so it wouldn't really matter anyway.
The soap lathers up nicely so one pump is enough to wash your hand properly even for an adult although my husband does use more as he has a dirty job and comes home with black hands at times and it does take more soap to get through this. The soap rinses easily from the hands and doesn't leave any residue on your hands.
I have found this soap does the job you want it to however although it has never dried out my hands like the soap at work does it doesn't leave them feeling moisturised either. My hands feel clean after use but I will still stick to the branded products as they leave my hands feeling soft and nicely scented too. I will give this soap 4 stars out of 5 since it states it is moisturising it loses a star for not leaving my hands feeling moisturised.
Summary: A good hand wash
