“ Brand: Astor / Type: Nail Care / Suitable for: Cuticles „
This is a review of a nail and cuticle duo kit by Astor which I have been using a lot recently. I spotted the set in our local cheapo shop and thought it would be worth a try as I love using new nail products and have pretty good long nails that I like to polish frequently. What is it? The set contains two tubes (12ml each) of product. One is a fine exfoliant and the other is a cuticle cream. The tubes are similar to the size of an average lip gloss and have a similar applicator (called a doe foot I think). This enables you to squeeze out just the right amount each time you use it. In use I use the exfoliating product first which is pink with a fine grain in it. I use it on a bare nail and just squeeze a little on to the nail bed before massaging in. It doesn't hurt and it smells really nice and fresh. Once each nail has had its little massage, I wash off the product, dry my hands and then apply the cream from the second tube. A little goes a very long way and I always end up using too much. It does rub in nice although it takes a while to properly sink in so it's not a rush job if you are also intending to polish your nails afterwards! What does it do? The nail and cuticle cream intensely nourishes nails making brittle and cracked nails regain their resilience and sheen. It strengthens nails and nail beds through continued use. The scrub gently exfoliates, softens and conditions nails and cuticles, helping to remove dead cells and encourage healthy nail growth. You can use both products together or in isolation depending on the time you have on your hands and what you are wanting to do with your nails immediately afterwards. Price paid I paid just 99p for this duo from my local 99p store. I recognised the brand from other products I have tried in the past so was sure it would be OK. My thoughts For the price paid I think this is a great value for money item for nails. I have been using my tubes for over a month now, once or twice a week and there is plenty of product left in them. The exfoliator has gone down a little more than the cream as you do have to use a little bit more of it at a time but I will continue to use the cream on its own once the exfoliant runs out. I think a nice overnight treatment for hands using the cream and some cotton gloves would have great results and also, you can use this product on toenails too if you are preparing for a special pedicure or a holiday where you will be seeing your feet a lot! Final word I would definitely repurchase this Astor set and even if you don't have a 99p shop near you that stocks it, there are plenty of these sets going cheaply on ebay so if you are looking after your nails and want some cuticle therapy this is a good place to start.
