I always like to have a hand wash in the toilet for people to use after using the toilet as I think it is just a bit nicer looking to have a nice hand wash rather than a half used bar of soap sitting.
I love the hand washes from Bayliss & Harding as although they don’t cost very much they do look nice and a lot posher than the plain old handwashes you normally get.
I love this lavender one as the colour is gorgeous in my bathroom and I really love the smell of it too. It is a lovely smell for a hand wash as it is lightly fragranced and the lavender smell works so well in a liquid soap. Sometimes although I like lavender I find that it can be too overpowering for me but not so with this one.
It foams up nicely and you really feel as though you are getting a really good clean when you use it. It leaves hands feeling and looking clean and works well at getting off dirt. It is a bit runny but this isn’t a problem because of the pump so it doesn’t go everywhere. It might be more of a problem if you had to pour it but since you don’t it isn’t. It also rinses off easily.
The colour is also pretty as it is a light lavender colour and this just looks more appealing than a plain or gaudy coloured one.
I think it gives great value for money too as it only costs £1.99 and you get a big 500ml tub for that which lasts for ages.
I haven't bought many items from the Baylis & Harding range before, but was pleased to receive a small gift set containing various items from the range a while back from my mother-in-law. One of the items in the gift set is the Baylis & Harding Mosaic French Lavender Handwash, with this review discussing my thoughts and experience.
The French Lavender Handwash is available to purchase online at www.amazon.co.uk, where it is included in a variety of gift sets available to purchase. I believe that the item is also available in some supermarkets such as Sainsbury's, and you can expect to pay in the region of £2 - £2.50 for the bottle, which is a generous 500ml in size.
The packaging is very attractive, comprising of a sturdy plastic bottle, with a robust 'pump' dispenser on top. I think the packaging looks really quite nice, and I have never encountered any issues with using the product, finding the packaging is easy to use.
The French Lavender Handwash has a lovely consistency, and although it is quite thin, I don't find it is overly runny. The Handwash spreads over the skin easily, and without feeling 'sticky' or clammy on the hands' surface. A gentle lather is produced during use, but I couldn't say that this felt particularly luxurious or fluffy.
Even as the Handwash is dispensed from the bottle, I am able to smell its lovely aroma. With a refreshing edge to it that is noticeable straight away, the aroma feels really inviting and fresh.
I find that the scent of the Handwash is really quite true to that of fresh Lavender, more so than other Lavender fragranced toiletries and body care items that I own from rival brands. This result is quite impressive, especially as I find Lavender scents can be rather 'sickly' in their aromas in cheaply-produced toiletries.
I like how the French Lavender scent lingers delicately on the skin's surface after I have washed my hands, with just a light, fragrant 'whiff' being evident for a short time after use. This result allows the product to slot quite nicely into everyday life as the aroma never feels too strong or intrusive, as it were.
I also like how the product rinses easily from the skin without fuss after use; there is no annoying 'stickiness' or tackiness remaining, with skin looking and feeling spotlessly clean.
I can confirm that my sensitive skin has suffered nothing in the way of aggravation or irritation from the continued use of the French Lavender Handwash, and to this end, I do feel that it is entirely suitable for those consumers who, like me, suffer with sensitive skin issues.
Taking everything into account, I do feel that the product is worthy of my full recommendation, and I do feel that I would repurchase it again in the future. I like it's more-authentic-than-expected Lavender scent, and find that it is an easy-going product that is simple and quick to use.
I don’t use my guest toilet at all as it is only for people visiting so they don’t have to go in the tip that is my bathroom. Because it is for guests I like to have something quite posh looking and I do think this looks quite posh in the toilet. I still can’t get over the fact that it is almost identical on first look to Molton Brown but that’s not a bad thing since Molton Brown is one of the classiest and best toiletries brands you can buy. Unlike Molton Brown though this was a lot cheaper. It only cost me £2.15 and that was for a really big 500ml bottle.
The hand wash itself is a light lavender colour and it is quite a nice neutral colour suitable for use by both men and women. I was a little bit worried that the lavender fragrance might be a bit feminine but as it is only for guests I thought they could either like it or lump it. Besides to my nose it isn’t as feminine as I would have imagined. There is a definite lavender scent to it but it is a more natural smelling lavender than those horrible synthetic smelling lavender products which you can get which smell too floral and unnatural. This smells more like the lavender that you smell in the garden and is quite nice actually. It isn’t something that I would want to shower in but for a hand wash I like it.
The bottle comes with a pump action top which can be twisted to open and close. A couple of pumps is all that is needed to get enough of the hand wash to give a really good amount of lather. This leaves your hands feeling really nicely clean but it isn’t harsh. It feels gentle though skin is left really clean and fresh. It also doesn’t leave that horrible residue that you can get with some hand washes. Once you wash it off that’s it gone though it does leave your hands faintly smelling of the lavender for a while afterwards.
I have to admit being surprised with the quality of both this and the shower gel that I also purchased as to be honest I wasn’t expecting much but it can happily stand alongside those other brands which it is trying to emulate.
Baylis & Harding French Lavender Hand Wash
I had not used this brand before I bought this and I had not really heard of them but I will definitely be buying some more of there other products. I have been using it for a while and I usually get comments from friends saying that it smells really nice!
*About the product*
It is in a clear 500ml bottle and it looks simple and nice. It has a pump a the top which can be twisted to close and open the nozzle - but I don't really find this useful so I just keep it on the open side.
It is a purple liquid and it smells so nice - like real lavender, not synthetic or fake. It is not very expensive and it lasts for ages.
*My opinion of the product*
I really like the product and It is mostly because of the scent. It smells a lot like lavender that is in the garden and the scent stays for my hands (if I don not use a strong smelling moisturiser) for ages!
It is cleansing and it is moisturising, it lathers up really well and it makes lots of nice lavender scented bubbles. It is 500ml which may seem like a lot but the bottle does not take up that much room. And it does last ages so you do not need to buy another for a while.
I can't remember where I bought it from but it can be purchased online from there site.
I think I payed £2.50 for it or something like and I will be buying some more of this lovely scented hand wash. They have hand lotions in the same scents too. And all of the prices are on the website.
