Boot's Essentials Nail Polish Remover
Advantages: Cheap, Large bottle, Does the job.
Disadvantages: Basic, no added extras.
At the moment I have been trying to grow my nails and keep them in good condition. As they are getting longer and healthier, I have been painting them quite frequently. I have purchased numerous nail polishes for the upcoming summer months, and I am currently experimenting with them all. I like to change my nail polish around every two weeks, so as you can imagine I get through nail polish remover quite quickly. As I am currently on a budget, I decided I would go for a cheaper option this time, and that is why I went for the Boots own branded nail polish remover from their essentials range.
Obviously this is only available from Boots stores and online on their website. Due to it being own branded, it does mean that it is considerably cheaper than the branded ones. This one retails at only £1.00 which I think is an excellent price considering I have paid double this in the past. Not only is it £1.00 but you get a considerable 250ml worth of liquid in the bottle meaning it is a fairly big bottle of the stuff.
As you can see from the image, the nail polish remover is pretty basic which is to be expected. There is nothing fancy about the packaging with it just being purple and white in colour and containing the usual details around it. I'm not too bothered about buying own brand though, because who is really bothered what a nail polish remover looks like? Not me! Now on to the more important details, how well did it work?
This bottle is very simple to open up, and once you've twisted off the lid the first thing I noticed is that there is quite a big hole for the liquid to come out. This means you have to be quite careful when pouring out this remover and could mean it is easy to leak, therefore I would recommend standing up the bottle when you are not using it to prevent this happening. I personally like to use cotton wool to remove my nail polish, therefore I got a good sized clump of it and held directly to the bottle opening, making sure that it would not spill everywhere. After it had absorbed in to the wool, I started to remove my nail polish. The first thing that hit me was the smell of this nail polish remover, it is quite strong and a chemical scent but this doesn't put me off too much as long as it does the job, because I thoroughly wash my hands with anti bacterial wash after use.
As soon as I started rubbing on to my nails, I noticed that it was taking off the polish quickly and with ease which was impressive for a budget remover. It took no longer to remove polish than using a branded remover and I feel like this was really effective on the whole at taking off nail polish, even in those hard to reach areas. Five stars as far as performance goes. Another benefit of this remover is that as it is so huge, it really does last a long time even if you regularly paint your nails like me.
The only negative that I can think of with this nail polish remover is that there are no added benefits to it. It doesn't strengthen the nail or anything like that which would be nice, but I suppose as it is a budget remover this is expected. I would perhaps be willing to pay a little more for a nourishing nail polish remover, but for £1.00 this is overall an excellent product.
Overall, this is a highly recommended nail polish remover for all of those on a budget. It does the job and lasts a long time so it is definitely worth looking at! Thanks for reading.
Summary: A great budget nail polish remover.
