We got through a lot of soap in our house. I am trying to teach the children to wash their hands regularly especially before they sit down for meals. The whole process of getting them to actually wash their hands properly is right up there with trying to get them to brush their teeth properly and it takes constant supervision to make sure that they do it correctly.
Because using a bar of soap always ended up with the soap on the floor I soon decided on liquid hand wash for them because I thought that they couldn’t possibly make as much mess with that. I only buy cheaper ones for them to use because they waste so much so I save the more expensive nicer smelling ones for me and the hubby.
One of the ones that I have bought recently was this antibacterial hand wash from Boot’s as it was only 75p and it promised to moisturise as well as kill germs so I thought that it couldn’t be too harsh for their more delicate skin.
The container isn’t fancy and it doesn’t have a gorgeous smell like some hand washes but it is a good practical hand wash and does exactly what it is designed to do which is clean hands and kill germs.
The liquid hand wash is blue and it has a pump dispenser which pumps out just a touch too much of the liquid soap but with my kids there is never enough and they like to do it two or three times hence why they get the cheap one to use. The soap forms a good foam and it does a good job of removing grime and dirt from their skin and nails.
It isn’t the best smelling hand wash but it isn’t too bad and it has quite a fresh smell to it. I have used some cheaper hand washes before that have smelt awful so I think that this one isn’t too bad for the money.
It is also not harsh on my children’s skin and it hasn’t irritated it or dried it out too much.
I was more impressed with this than I thought that I would be because of how much it cost. It might be cheap but it isn’t bad and is a perfectly fine hand wash for anyone who is happy to have something functional and doesn’t want to spend a lot of money just for something that might smell a little bit more luxurious.
I live in a house of 5 girls and we take it in turns to buy household products like hand soap. When it was my turn to buy the hand wash I went into Boots and found the soap aisle to find this own branded hand wash for 75p. Even better, I found a refill bottle of the same soap for 53p.
We have a poodle shaped soap dispenser in our bathroom so I was more than happy to pay the 22p less and sacrifice the pump. This is also more eco-friendly which, if you read many of reviews, I am very conscious of. More soaps should offer these refill packs that don't have the huge bit of plastic pump!
For just over half a pound this soap is fantastic value. It's blue and I can't work out any outstanding fragrance, but it does contain Parfum. It has a very pleasant soapy smell, but I usually go for one that smells actually OF something. This is the original flavour, but they also do aloe vera and sensitive soaps in the range.
The package claims that it moisturises, removes germs and combats stubborn odours. Unfortunately I have to disagree with the statement that it moisturises. After using it my hands certainly don't feel moisturised and if I use it more than once in an hour I actually feel the need to moisturise because my hands feel so dry. As for the other claims, I tend to agree; my hands always feel clean and smelling fresh. The bottle is 250ml and this tends to last us up to 2 months.
Overall for the price I am very happy. I like the fact they offer a refill bottle for a cheaper price. Although it is not the highest quality soap, I feel that it does the job well. To keep my hands feeling really nice though, I use a hand lotion afterwards as the hand wash does dry them out a bit.
I've just had a new baby and as such we have had and are having a lot of visitors to come and see him. Before he was born I wanted to get some hand wash that was antibacterial because I'm a bit fussy about germs and wanted to make sure that initially in the first couple of weeks anyone who picked him up would wash their hands and make sure they were clean. I didn't want to spend a fortune as I have nicer guest soaps that I use most of the time but for the time being this antibacterial hand wash from Boots is doing just the trick.
It was ridiculously cheap at £0.74 for a regular sized bottle so it will last quite a while, we've had it a couple weeks now and its still near the top. It's very basic looking and the packaging is very cheap looking but I don't think that makes a difference. It's a basic see through plastic bottle with a pump action at the top. I like this feature as it means you don't have to share a bar of soap with others and touching is minimal so you are probably protecting against germs this way too. The hand wash inside is a basic blue colour and it actually looks like washing up liquid to me. Boots say that this antibacterial Original Hand Wash is a mild and effective formulation that helps remove germs and combat stubborn odours. It kills 99% of bacteria and leaves your hands clean and fresh in seconds.
The smell is very slight, there's not much of a smell to it but thats actually quite nice, to not have a perfumed soap when you are trying to kill germs. So far it seem to be working well, my baby has picked up no germs, this hand wash hasn't dried out my hands and we still have lots of it left at a very cheap price.
