“ Brand: Boots / Type: Hand Wash / Suitable for: Hand „
I am going to review the hand wash we have had sitting in our bathroom for the last couple of weeks. I don't normally review hand washes but I particularly like this one so I thought I would write about it.
The hand wash was bought from Boots where it was very reasonably priced at £1.25.
This hand wash comes in a transparent plastic bottle containing 300ml. The bottle is quite plain with a simple lightly coloured label on it with a picture of some lavender and jasmine flowers. Through the bottle you can see the lilac hand wash inside. Lilac is one of my favourite colours so despite the fact that it is quite plain I do really like the look of this bottle. I think it looks quite pretty. As the colours are light this handwash does not look out of place in most bathrooms/kitchens or whereever you would want to keep the handwash.
I love the fragrance of jasmine and I quite like the fragrance of lavender, too. So I love the way this handwash smells. The smell is not strong or too overpowering; I hate smells like that. It is quite a soothing and relaxing smell. I keep smelling my hands after I have used it!
This cleans your hands nicely. It works into a nice lather under the water and feels lovely and smooth and gentle. It seems very friendly to your skin. Some handwashes dry out my hands but this one doesn't seem to do that at all. Instead it leaves my hands feeling really nice and soft and smooth and in good condition.
Overall I would definitely recommend this handwash as for just £1.25 for 300ml it is a fantastic hand wash. It is one of the nicest hand washes I have ever used and I just can't get enough of the gorgeous fragrance. I now want to try out some of the other jasmine and lavender products from the range as the smell is so good!
I wouldn't go as far as saying I am obsessive about washing my hands, however when I'm at home I probably do wash them quite often -especially when cleaning and cooking - so as such I do get through quite a large amount of hand wash.
This particular product was bought out of laziness to be completely honest! I was standing in the queue at Boots and this happened to be on a display next to the counter as it was on special offer at the time. I realised I needed hand wash and although a lavender scented product wouldn't have been my first choice, I picked it up rather than go back to the shelves and have to queue again.
I've used quite a few products from the Boots ingredients range in my time and had varied results, so I wasn't really sure what I was going to get here.
I don't want to spend too much time talking about the packaging, but I would say that for a budget product the bottle is actually very pretty and the photograph on the Boots website which is also shown above does not really do the product any justice. It's a sturdy bottle which despite being narrow doesn't topple over when you press the pump and I'd say in real life it looks more expensive than it actually is. I also like that the bottle is clear, so I can tell when I'm running out.
The hand wash is a lilac colour and contains lavender and jasmine, which they say are calming and relaxing. I must admit, I'm not completely sure why you would want to feel calm and relaxed whilst washing your hands! There is also a shower gel and bubble bath which are made in the same fragrance and I think the calming and relaxing properties are probably more applicable to them.
As I said I'm not a huge fan of lavender, although I have found that the lavender products available today are an improvement on those of the past, and tend not to be as strong or sickly. Although the lavender is definitely the dominant fragrance with this product, the jasmine gives it a bit of a deeper, more exotic undertone and although jasmine is a flower, I feel that it still takes off some of the floral edge of the lavender.
When using the hand wash I find you can get an adequate lather from just one pump, however I tend to use two as that creates more bubbles and leaves my hands feeling especially clean. The hand wash has a gel like consistency and is very smooth against the skin. It produces a lot of bubbles and the fragrance intensity is just about right when using it.
When I'm cleaning I wash my hands frequently and because I have dry skin to start with it is pretty crucial that I don't use a product that will dry them further. I'm pleased to say that despite frequent washing this product does not dry my skin out or leave any tight feeling, it just leaves my hands feeling soft and clean.
The fragrance lingers on the skin for a while after use, but it is fairly subtle and not particularly noticeable. I must admit I can't say I've found myself feeling particularly calm or relaxed after using it, despite what the bottle might say!
A 300ml bottle costs £1.19 from Boots which is a fairly average price, however this range is often on special offer, so it's quite likely you will be able to pick it up cheaper.
In conclusion, I have been quite pleased with this product and would buy it again. The packaging is simple but pretty, the scent is nice and not overpowering and it didn't dry my skin out. I suppose one of the main negative points, however is probably that it is not anti-bacterial, which is why it loses one star from me, but on the whole a good product.
