Advantages: Good price, Cleans hands well, Kills bacteria.
Disadvantages: Smell is not to everyone's taste.
Hand wash is an important essential to every household, and I am constantly changing ours to try out different brands and scents. When doing the food shopping, I decided to pick up this particular one from Carex because it was quite cheap and also I have been impressed with some of their hand gels in the past, so thought I would give it a go.
I purchased mine from Asda for only £1.00 which I think is a really good price for a branded hand wash. I have seen this in many other supermarkets, as well as in pharmacies such as Boots - but I tend to find it cheaper in the supermarkets if you are after one. There was a whole range of scented hand washes in this range, but I decided to try the aloe vera one, just for a change really.
You get 250ml worth of product within the bottle which is around average for a hand wash, but I think is generous for the price paid. The bottle has been updated quite a bit since the one shown in the image. It is now a clear bottle, and the label has been spruced up a bit. Nothing great, still quite simple, but suitable for bathroom use.
To use this you have to simply push down on the pump. The hand wash dispenses as a green liquid, and you get a good amount with just one or two pumps of this, which I find great as it lasts a lot longer than other hand washes. The first thing that I noticed with this hand wash the smell. Personally, I was not too bothered by it, but I know that others would be. As it is aloe vera, you can imagine it is quite a pungent, under the nose scent. It has a strong anti bacterial, disinfectant sort of smell, which at first I thought was not very pleasant. However, this was not too much an issue to me, but if you like the fruity or floral scented kinds of hand wash, steer clear of this one!
Thankfully, after I had lathered this hand wash into the skin, the smell did seem to improve somehow. It lathered up really nicely and quickly, and I find this hand wash really effective for a quick hand wash, so I like to keep it downstairs to use in between jobs or in the kitchen, as it is really simple and quick to use. It washes off easily, and the disinfectant like smell does seem to wear away after a while which I was happy about.
Something which I was really impressed with this hand wash is that it kills 99.9% of bacteria, and it also states that it "supports the skin in its natural defences", meaning this one is really good for all the family to use. It is also much safer than using other hand washes, especially when it comes to hygiene and infection etc... In addition to this, it does contain moisturisers. I did not find that it left my hands feeling particularly moisturised, however they do seem noticeably softer after using this which is fantastic, and a nice little extra - particularly when you have only paid £1.00 for the product!
Overall, I am really pleased that I picked this up on a whim, as I will now be going back to buy another one. It does everything it states and leaves my family's hands clean and well protected against germs. The smell is not great, so I may potentially check out some of the other scents in the range, but overall this does everything that I wish, and it kills of 99.9% of bacteria. What more could you want? Thanks for reading and hope this helps.
