Carex Aloe Vera Hand Wash
Advantages: Cleans well, cares for skin, lathers up well
Disadvantages: I dont personally like the smell
Carex is a brand that both myself and my family return to time and time again. It seems to be pretty much the most trusted brand of handwash and it comes in a variety of scents and each one of these tends to have a slightly different caring quality.
My Mum often has this Aloe Vera soap in her bathroom though to be honest it is one that I dont tend to turn to because a) I dont like the colour and b) I dont really like the smell! However, it can be purchased from a numerous amount of shops and can often be found either on a half price offer or a round pound deal. I never buy handwash full price because you can guarantee that it will be on offer once every few weeks so it makes more sense to stock up when it is on offer.
The handwash looks quite different to the picture shown above and Carex have had somewhat of a facelift since the picture was added. Now the bottle is crystal clear and showing the product inside. The logo has slightly changed and instead of the pale green fluid the soap is now a translucent mid-dark green. The bottles pump is now of the clear plastic and you will often find these in two bottle sizes - the regular size is 250ml I believe but you often also get the special 33% extra free packs which always work out as fantastic value for money when the soap is also on a half price deal.
So to use the soap you simply need to twist the top of the pump round to release the lock on it. The pump is then ready to be used and it is very simple to dispense the product, you do not need to press hard at all so this is brilliant if you have mucky hands and want to push it with the side of your hand or if you have mobility/weakness issues. Each pump dispenses a good amount of product and it is about the same size at 2 peas. This is plenty to wash an adults hands and there is plenty of product to allow you to get a good lather and wash all between your fingers, under your nails etc.
The scent of the soap is aloe vera. I find it quite difficult to describe the scent of aloe vera but it smells a bit like plants/trees. I dont like the scent of aloe vera particularly but this is not any problem with the soap its just my personal preference!
After rinsing my hands I can still detect the scent on my skin for half an hour or so but this is very subtle so it doesnt bother me. I actually like the fact that it leaves a slight scent on my skin because I can then detect that my hands are clean and this is especially useful if you have been cooking with onions or using garlic.
When using the soap it feels soft on my skin and it is not at all irritating. The same can be said when I dry my hands and even using this numerous times daily I find it causes no problems and infact my skin feels nourished and supple. This is essential for me as I do suffer with dry skin which, on my hands is absolutely terrible at times (skin peeling off in big clumps etc) but this soap from Carex helps to moisturise my hands and keep them healthy.
When using this soap I am more than happy that my hands are clean and I am confident when I use Carex. I think it is a trusted brand and have found all of the varieties in their range to provide a high quality handwash. I do like this handwash, my personal preference is not the scent of aloe vera but the soap does exactly what it claims to do and it lathers up well and cares for my skin. Carex is a brand I return to time and time again and I think that this soap does live up to Carex's well known name so I would recommend it.
Summary: A fantastic handwash
