Advantages: cheap, fast,effective
Disadvantages: strong smell at first
To be honest I was never one for hand sanitisers, didnt really know what they were, until my daughter was born. Then I turned into the most germ-phobic person around lol. Because my daughter was early and tiny, I wanted to protect her from all germs. I saw the carex hand sanitiser on offer at Asda for £1 (it usually retails for approx £1.80) and thought it was a fab idea.
There are a few versions of this gel - sensitive, aloe vera, moisturising etc. They are usually on offer at £1 in most supermarkets, so I tend to stock up on a few.
The bottle is small, easily fits into your hand, so it is very easy to carry in a pocket, handbag or glovebox of your car. It has a plastic lid which you remove to use the gel, and has a pump lid underneath so you can be sure that unless you're pumping it out, it isn't going to come out or leak. The bottle is transparent which is handy as you know how much you have left. The bottle is 50ml, plain packaging just really a small picture and the logo. It claims to have 100 applications per bottle and be fast drying It also claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria without the need for water.
I am a huge Dettol fan which also kills 99.9% of bacteria, so when I heard that the hand sanitiser did the same, I was overjoyed. It meant I could disinfect on the go! The hand gel is suitable for use by everyone, but it does give warnings to not get into contact with broken or irritated skin, or eyes and that if irritation occurs you should stop using it immediately. I have quite sensitive skin, particularly my hands, which is why I chose the sensitive one. It is also ideal for my daughter's delicate skin (she's now 2).
To use, you simply pump out the required amount and rub through your hands thoroughly. It has a strong scent at first, which is not unpleasant but very strong. As soon as it is rubbed in though, the scent disappears. If you smell your hands there will be a pleasant subtle scent, but nothing like the initial smell. It dries almost immediately which is perfect for when you're on the move.
I find this product exceptionally useful. I tend to use it a lot - whenever me or my daughter use a public bathroom for example, or when we are eating out. As we all know, toddlers like to touch everything, so I keep a bottle in my handbag, her backpack and the car just in case!
5/5 from me!
