~Carex helps sanitize my hands~
Carex Original Hand Gel is a product that I have bought a number of times, for use when I have been out and about and haven't always had the space to carry a pack of hand wipes, or had access to clean water to wash my hands with. I would say that Carex Original Hand Gel is a useful standby product to have around for such times as it can help to sanitize the hands and reportedly kills 99.9% of bacteria in just a few seconds, according to the advertising blurb and product information given.
I find that the smaller 50ml sized bottles of Carex Original Hand Gel are most often easily sourced as they sell in most chemists and supermarkets in my experience. I tend to take these smaller bottles of the product out with me in my bag as I find that I never know when I may need to sanitize my hands when away from home. The compact sized clear plastic product bottles that the gel comes in are generally easy to store away ready for use, with them holding just enough of the hand gel to last around 10 to 12 uses if dispensed and used with care.
In use the flip top bottle lids fitted to the hand gel bottles is fairly easy to use in my experience, although over time the lids can sometimes become detached from the neck of the lid, that sits on the product bottle. There isn't really very much that can be done if this happens, although it does mean that the hand gel can no longer be safely stored away in a bag or jacket pocket ready for use, due to potential spills. When I use the hand gel I find that it has a strong alcohol aroma to it that is more intense when the gel is freshly applied to my skin. Over time this scent does fade away until soon enough I am unable to detect it to any real degree.
In my experience the hand gel seems to do what it was made for as I always feel that my hands have been safely sanitized when I use this product. The ethanol in the hand wash does sting the hands a little if they are overly dry or don't agree with these types of hand gels, although in my own case I have had no issues of any note when using this hand gel. I always find the small sized 50ml product bottles are easy to store away after use and are light to carry. I haven't had any reactions to this hand gel when I have used it, however other family members have made comments about the harsh feel of this gel on their hands.
I wouldn't say that these hand gels are as good as fresh water and hand wash are for getting rid of germs or cleaning my hands, however I do feel that they are better than not being able to wash and/ or sanitize my hands when I am away from the home. I would rate these small bottles of hand gel as being very useful for the occasional use and I would recommend this product as it is easy to use and store and inexpensive to buy with a little careful shopping. A single 50ml bottle can cost around £1 on its own, or a little less if there are multi buy offers or deals around. MY rating for these hand gels is 4 stars.
Hand gel is something I use regularly where I work at a pre school. We usually go for the cheapest hand gel or whichever one is available to buy at the time. We have this Carex Original Hand Gel quite often.
We always give the children hand gel before snack to kill any germs and bacteria and clean hands. This does a great job and claims to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria. I can't measure if this is true but my hands always seem a lot cleaner after use.
We use hand gel rather than soap and water because it is quicker and a lot less messy. Usually washing hands at a sink leaves puddles all over the floor as they spray it around everywhere. Not only is this time consuming to clean up, but it is dangerous as well as they could slip on the wet floor. This is why we changed to hand gel a few years ago.
As we have 30 to 40 children each day we need to be quick at getting their hands clean. This works well as it is quick and easy for the children to rub it in. It usually only takes us 5 to 10 minutes to get hands clean and ready at the table.
Very little gel is needed when cleaning hands. This is good as we have so many children.
The gel is easy to control and squeeze out of the bottle. This helps us complete the task quickly. As you get nearer to the bottom it gets more difficult to get out. This is made easier by leaving it turned upside down. It doesn't stand that way on its own though, it has to be balanced.
The lid on the bottle is easy to open and shut and it never leaks. This is useful if you wanted to take it on the go in a bag.
The bottle is clear and very small. This allows us to store it easily and away from children when it is not in use. We can also see when it is running out and get a new one before it's all gone.
We buy the 50ml bottle of Carex Original Hand Gel from Boots for £1.45. I think this is a great price as it lasts quite a while. Ours usually lasts between two and three weeks but we use it multiple times each day.
I would recommend this for clean and hygienic hands whether at home or on the go. It is an essential for us.
