Carex Sensitive Hand Wash
Advantages: Antibacterial, great price
Disadvantages: Drying, doesn't smell of much
I have a 5 year old daughter and find that a bar of soap plus water plus her doesn't mix and we end up with a mad game of chase the soap around the bathroom hence the reason I use handwash in our bathroom.
I tend to buy whichever decent branded handwash is on offer, I have tried the cheaper brands but find they don't really compare. I seem to end up passing back and forth between Radox and Carex as I find these ones often go on offer at £1 per bottle which I think is a decent price.
The bottle the handwash comes in is see through and you can see the products inside but this is transparent too so apart from a little bit of bright pink on the front of the bottle the packaging isn't exactly exciting. The bottle has a pump top lid on it which is locked when you buy it but is simple to open with a simple twist and once a bottle is open in our house I leave it open so that my daughter can use it by herself.
I work as a carer and the constant washing of my hands has caused me to have contact dermatitis which is why I decided to have a try of the sensitive version to see if it made any difference but to be honest it is no gentler than any other handwash in my opinion.
The pump squirts a decent amount of liquid out per squirt which is great as my daughter knows one squirt is enough to do her hands so doesn't over use the product. The liquid is a little thinner and sloppier than most branded handwashes that we have used which I was surprised by. The liquid has a slight flowery scent to it but the smell doesn't remain on your hands although they do smell clean. The soap lathers up really well and then it rinses away from my hands easily too again this is a great thing in my opinion as it means my daughter doesn't waste loads of water trying to rinse her hands.
After use my hands felt pretty soft but over time I found that this soap actually seemed to dry my hands out more than usual, once I stopped using this product I found my hands improved again so I know it was from this soap. I would have to give this soap a 3 as it is antibacterial which gives me great confidence in its cleaning abilities and it is easy to use however I like more of a scent and I found it dried my hands too much.
