Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Hand Therapy
Advantages: Rich and easily absorbed
I don't remember buying this hand cream, so someone must have bought it for me as a gift. As I don't do much gardening I tucked it away in a drawer and when I was having a clear out I discovered it and decided to give it a try.
I am glad I did as this is a fabulous hand cream and a multi purpose one as I also use this on my feet.
I don't know why but I thought Crabtree and Evelyn had been around for a century as to me they conjure up an image of products that were used in the 2 world wars , slightly old fashioned and genteel. However they actually started in business 40 years ago in the 1970's and their heritage is a brand that uses ingredients from the natural world of fruits flowers and plants.
This came boxed and the gardeners hand therapy cream is in one of those metal tubes in a not very attractive tan colour which I am not keen on. I don't like these tubes as no matter how carefully I dispense the cream the tube becomes creased and it is difficult to get the lid back on and sometimes the tubes split. So not my favourite dispenser.
This is a thick white cream that has a strong almost medicinal smell. It contains shea butter which explains the rich consistency, glycerin clover and chamomile. It also contains lavender sage rosemary and thyme of which lavender is the strongest scent but the other herbs also come through.
It is very rich so a little goes a long way and it seems to absorb quickly. It leaves my hands looking nourished, feeling really soft and smelling of herbs. It feels like it could be greasy, but it just leaves a soft sheen which I think always makes skin look healthier.
I also use this on my feet as I was applying to my hands one day and I dispensed too much so decided to rub the excess on my feet and it transformed them from a dry slightly crocodile appearance to normal with one application.
Would I Recommend
Yes this is a super hand and foot cream that really transforms dry rough hands and feet. I find the scent a little strong when I first apply especially on my hands, but it dissipates after a while, so is not too overpowering.
I would not limit this to using after gardening as I use this after I have done my cleaning as my hands feel rough after coming into contact with cleaning products dust and dirt.
It also seems to last a long time on my hands and even after washing them they still feel soft, so it definitely penetrates the skin.
I also like the richness of the cream and the fact that it doesn't leave my hands feeling slippery plus it absorbs quickly.
It is expensive but you don't need to use much ad it seems to last for ages. I will buy some more , but not in the metal tube as it has split and dispenses product out of the split which is really annoying.
I would not have chosen this myself as the tube is not that attractive, but whoever bought me tis did me a real favour as it transforms workmanlike hands back to ladylike.
From Crabtree and Evelyn is £14 for a 100 ml. At the moment you can buy 4 x 50g tubes for £22 in a mix and match offer, which is tempting as my friend swears by their La Source hand cream. I would recommend buying the pump action size which is £16.08 for 250g on Amazon or £20 from Crabtree and Evelyn.
Summary: Perfect for rough hands and feet
