A.H.A Sea Scrub
Creative A.H.A Sea Scrub is an exfoliating foot scrub made up of quartz crystals, natural beach sand and marine alpha-hydroxy acid, which are more commonly known as A.H.A's - this creates a thorough exfoliation of rough, dry or chapped skin on the feet and legs, it is mainly designed to concentrate on the soles of the feet, as this is where you have the most dry skin.
Use & Effects
An essential step in a skin care program is exfoliation. Exfoliating smoothes away dead skin cells, prevents clogged pores and reveals a layer of fresh new cells. Regular exfoliating is the secret to radiant, smooth and healthy skin.
Creative A.H.A Sea Scrub physically exfoliates your skin with quartz crystals and beach sand and it chemically exfoliates with 5% marine alpha-hydroxy acid (A.H.As). Now this does sound scary, but A.H.A's are all natural ingredients. The usual A.H.As in beauty products are made from sugar cane, fruits and milk, but in Creative A.H.A Sea Scrub the A.H.As are marine, and the ingredients in this are algae and seaweed and sea salt so nothing unusal to have in a beauty product. Sea Salt exfoliates and remineralises the skin, helping your skin regain smoothness and a radiant, healthy appearance. It also contains glycerin and aloe vera which help your skin hold on to moisture.
To me the ingredients sound a little harsh for your skin but this really isn't the case, it exfoliates your feet throughly yet gently. This is the exfoliator I use in pedicures in the salon I work in and I swear by it, it's fantastic. I always use it on clients even if they don't have a build up of dry skin on their feet, all skin always has dead skin cells and this is what the dry skin is - a build up of this, so using this will also prevent the build up, also making it alot easier for you. If you do have very bad build up, then it may take more than one application, and I would also recommend using a foot file to also remove excess. To help prevent the build up, or if you have it use this exfoliator on your feet 2-3 times a week or before going out, it can even be used daily. I would also definately recommend using it after wearing uncomfortable shoes, as this can also help with build up. Creative A.H.A Sea Scrub smoothes and softens rough, dry soles, it leaves you skin feeling refreshed, revitalised, smooth and soft. With continued use of this product, your feet will look like a foot models - they will feel like silk and be as soft as a babys bum. This isn't so much of a big deal for people in the winter when they have their feet and body covered up but you should still take as much care of your feet as you would in the summer - giving you less work to do in the summer. When it is applyed to your feet, the first thing you notice is the refreshing and relaxing scent of peppermint oil, you can clearly smell this throughout using it, and you can even smell it still on your skin when the product is washed off. It doesn't dry out your skin or have an overly oily texture, but instead has just enough moisture to give your skin and remove dead skin cells. Your skin feels, soft, smooth, silky and moisturised - just like velvet! As it contains peppermint oil, it is also relaxing for your feet and your feet feel soothed and it helps soothe any aches or pains. This scrub is great for all skin types, especially dry. It exfoliates effectively but gently, it doesn't scratch or irritate your skin. I have ecezma and it doesn't make this any worse, it is gentle enough to use over this, but you must take a little more care when using over those areas. It doesn't irritate your skin, althought it has sea salt in, it doesn't feel too harsh or abrasive on your skin due to the essential oil content. You can certainly feel the grains in it but they do not scratch your skin or cause any discomfort. Although it doesn't irriate your skin, it still exfoliates well and really makes a difference, this product works like a gem. Although it is designed as a foot exfoliator, it can be used all over the body, even the face but it may feel a little harsh on your face. It is always recommended that you exfoliate before self tanning otherwise the tan goes patchy and gets in all your dry skin, exfoliating removes the dead skin cells leaving you with a soft, smooth skin for the tan to look better on - this is a fantastic exfoliator for this.
To use, first soak your feet in a foot spa, or a bath/shower if you don't have one for a few minutes to soften the skin, then when the feet are still wet, apply a genourous amount into your hands, rub together and then gently rub in circular motions into the feet, concentrating on the heels, balls and sides of the feet as this is where the most build up occurs. Massage into the feet for about 2 minutes and then rinse off. The product says that is is easy to rinse off, it is if you are in the shower as there is running water to rinse it off but if using a foot spa or bath it is a little more difficult and you are sometimes left with a few small beads. I make sure that I throughly dry the feet afterwards with a dry, clean towel and this usually gets those last few beads off. I would recommend that you always moisturise after use, not because this dries your skin out - infact is is moisturising to your skin, but moisturising afterwards will help to keep your skin soft and supple. I would recommend not to shave after use as the area is more sensitive, but it is okay to wax afterwards, it will give your legs if used on them a better surface for the wax to stick to.
Creative Sea Scrub comes in a lovely looking clear tub, enabling you to see the rich looking white cream, which clearly contains small brown beads for exfoliating. The tub easily unscrews, but it can get a little clogged up around the rim when used frequently and in a rush, so I would recommend wiping this down after use when possible. I find that using at least 10 times a week, the pot lasts a year, so this is fantastic and really lasts.
Price & Availability
You will be looking to pay about £20-25 for a 21 oz. pot and about £40 for a 77 oz. pot, but this size is only usually available to trade buyers with a Creative account. This isn't too unreasonable to pay for a really good exfoliator that lasts. You can purchase it from any salon stocking Creative products or from various websites such as Amazon.com, where sometimes you can get a bargain.
Creative a.h.a Sea Scrub is definately a product I would recommend, it is one of my favourite exfoliators, and works like a treat on both myself and my clients. It smells lovely and feels lovely on your feet as well as the rest of your body.
