Cuticura Citrus Hand Hygeine Gel
Advantages: Works well, smells nice, good price
Disadvantages: None for me
As box secretary to our local lifeboat guild I spend time emptying the various collection boxes around the town. As you might guess my hands get very grubby indeed!
I always carry a little bottle of anti-bacterial cleansing gel in my bag to just keep my hands fairly clean. I realise that the amount of dirt that I manage to accumulate means that my hands aren't squeaky clean after using the gel but it certainly does help until I can get to hot water and soap!
Last time I needed a new bottle I headed off to Boots to see what was on offer. I found the Cuticura Hand Cleansing Gel at £1 for 100ml which I thought was an excellent price so I chose the Citrus variation and bought it. It is advertised as the ideal alternative to washing your hands when soap and water is not available.
The gel comes in a little clear plastic bottle with a bright blue lid and it is a nice handy size to fit in your handbag. The front of the bottle has the Cuticura logo and the name of the product. The writing tells us that this has anti-bacterial qualities and will kill 99.99% of bacteria fast! It also gives a few ideas for use of the gel - for the family, public toilets, eating out, on the go.
To dispense the gel you have to press one side of the top of the bottle which will make it rock revealing a small hole opposite to where you pressed. You then need to hold the bottle upside down over your open hand and gently squeeze the bottle. I say 'gently' because, if you squeeze too hard, you'll end up with a handful of the gel!
The gel is a thick gloopy consistency and it smells lovely! It has a really sharp, refreshing lemon smell which isn't at all chemical in nature. Once you have a small amount of gel in your hand all you have to do is rub your hands together until the gel disappears along with the bacteria.
I find that this gel works really well - it disappears very quickly, leaving my hands feeling clean and fresh with no sticky residue. As I said earlier I use the gel when I have been emptying collecting boxes as my hands get dirty and very sticky especially with boxes that sit on the bar in pubs getting splashed with beer. I also use it when I am working in the lifeboat shop. When it is quiet I usually take my knitting in with me and I use the gel to make sure that my hands are clean before I begin to knit.
In conclusion I would definitely recommend this gel - it leaves my hands feeling clean and smelling fresh and the price is brilliant - a definite winner in my eyes.
Summary: A great cleansing gel
