I'm a guy and I spend a lot of time using my hands.
I'll let that one soak in for a while...There. Now I work in a very dry and warm office spending all day typing and getting a plethora of paper cuts. After work, i spend a lot of time cycling and generally compensating by doing manly things - some metal work, some wood work and most of all - getting absolutely filthy and covered in chemicals and oils.
Its not pretty and my hands show it generally, I have patches of very dry skin over my fingers - this may be from my fourth major love in life; Swarfega.
I've been using Dove hand cream for the past three weeks and it's been fantastic in helping my dry, flaky & scaly hands. I'm serious, it's been a great boon. My hands are softer than if I'd been using a certain special dish washing liquid. And less flaky too. Similarly, small children no longer pester me with plates.
I like the product a great deal, it's helped relieve my dry hands considerably. It has done what it promised. It's soothed, moisturised/hydrated my hands. Sometimes, it does feel a bit greasy to use but i only really find that to be the case after using a massive amount of Swarfega which strips oils from the skin.
It smells pretty good too, its not overtly feminine and even smells like it's packed full of moisturising agents...Which it is.
I was more than a little dubious about using the cream at first, I have a preference for 'natural' products and try to avoid using anything that has alcohol in it - as we all well know, alcohol dries the skin and Dove intensive Cream contains Benzyl Alcohol. It also contains Urea...But I saw this in Sainsbury's and decided to give it a go.
I have used this product and I've found it to be very useful, my hands aren't quite so disgusting and they feel great. The lady of the house has also noted the absence of sandpaper hands.
My only beef is the price, it'd be fantastic if it was available in the 75ml tube for a pittance.
I have always been a fan of Dove products and regularly use their deodorants, soaps and moisturisers. Me and my mum have regularly used Dove Intensive cream for extra dry hands for about a year now and I have to say it really is a great product.
The cream smell lovely like all Dove products, but isn't an overly obvious or strong. A small amount goes a long way with this cream, a pea size amount will cover both hands with luxurious softness, my 75ml tube seems to last forever. The cream isn't too oily, is gentle on my fairly sensitive skin and is absorbed pretty quickly into the skin so you won't be leaving oily marks everywhere.
The tube is clean and simple design, and the cap isn't stiff or difficult to pop open. I think I bought it for about £2.50 at the time from boots, now it's selling for £3.19 which is pretty good in comparison with other hand creams on the market when you're getting such a quality product.
I highly recommend this Dove Intensive hand cream, its perfect for everyday use. :)
Oh Dove products are amazing and I love them all, they are a very good brand and well worth every penny for the results they give and I love the smell and texture of them as they are brilliantly soft and smooth on the skin.
My mum gave me this cream to try as she was going to throw it away as she was clearing some of her beauty products and thought I would like it, and I am pleased she did because it is a beautiful hand cream and I do like a change from time to time and this one is super, and it comes in a nice size tube of 100ml, it has a screw off top and the cream inside is nice and thick and the texture is so smooth it is unreal but I do not know the price of this one as my mum had it for some time.
It is a white cream and only a little is needed on the hands to make them feel lovely and soft, and very smooth, as I am getting older, I am in my mature years and my hands tend to get very dry, although I do use rubber gloves for washing my dishes, my hands still tend to be dry, mainly on the back of my hands and so this cream is perfect for making them look so much smoother.
I have actually lost a lot of weight this year and my skin has become much drier, although I have always had dry skin but it has for some reason been much drier this year and so I have tended to use creams more often in the day, topping up etc, and this cream has worked for my hands perfectly.
The cream absorbs into the skin quite quickly and it is not greasy, it does not feel at all tacky after it has been applied, it is quite the opposite, my hands feel much more tighter as in firmer looking and smooth.
My fingertips are very soft after using this cream and I can really feel the difference, and I usually use hand cream right up to my wrist area, above where my watch or bracelets sit on my wrists and they are just as smooth as my hands with this cream.
This one is specially formulated for extra dry skin and it moisturises as soon as it is used on the hands, it nourishes and hydrates perfectly and although my mum told me she had bought this some time ago, it still had a good quality to it and it was perfectly fine on my skin, it did not irritate or leave any redness because of the time it had been left and so it has had some good use on my hands and I have tried lots and buy lots of dove hand creams and also their other beauty products because I always know they are going to be super on my skin and make a huge difference and they are priced at affordable prices too in my opinion,
I give this one 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
Sitting at work I could smell a gorgeous smell...I asked my female colleague sitting next to me what perfume she was wearing or had just sprayed and she said I've just put some hand cream on!! I thought surely the smell I was smelling could not possibly be hand cream as it smelt quite strong (in a pleasant way) so she put her hand out and I smelt them and it was. She showed me the cream she had just used and it was Dove's Intensive Cream for extra dry hands. She said try some. So I did.
Dove have again won me over. I use their soap to cleanse my face, rather than any expensive facial cleanser as I love Doves products and this was another one I'd have to invest in. I visited my local drug store and bought 2 tubes...one for at work and one for home. The cream leaves your skin feeling super soft and you can feel the cream instantly sinking into your skin and not sitting on the skins surface. As I said it smells lovely and after using it for about 2 weeks I did notice a huge difference in the dryness (well not anymore) of my hands!!
A big bargain as a lot of hand creams can cost as much as £10 for a small tube but I think I paid something like £2.39 from Superdrug. Do be careful though because if you squeeze out too much only so much will rub in and the rest sits of your skin and things can get slighty messy-but with the right amount your hands feel lovely and soft and you smell gorgeous.
Dove Intensive Cream
What is it?
A hand cream by Dove.
This is a specific formula developed for extra dry hands. It contains a cream-oil formula for effective moisturisation, smoothes the skin and provides long lasting-care.
What do I think?
I was actually nicking a bit of these off my mum and I am impressed. Without looking at it properly, I thought it was just a general hand cream, but I noticed that even though I had only been squeezing a tiny drop each time my hands felt very relieved and well moisturised, even after washing m hands, the effects seem to keep working, although after a good few washes after, I definitely had to reapply.
Looking at this carefully again, the cream has the same signature 'Dove' scent, and has the same 'just-right' creamy consistency. It absorbs very easily and leaves no greasy residue, though with warm hands you do feel some slight moisture. So if you're handling some sensitive sheets of paper, do be careful!
As already said, very little is needed, I have very dry hands and with just a small dab, the palms of my hands feel softer, more plump and very moisturised. Visibly my skin does look a lot smoother and plump, and it's usually very surprising for a cream that does all of these things with almost instant visible results, I love it!
The cream costs around £2.99. It states 'highly effective care formula' on the tube - does exactly what it says!
Some brilliant stuff!
