I have never been a fan of hand creams; I have bought a few of them over the years and only ever used them once or twice and then binned or passed them on to someone.
The main reason for this is because I have been a very heavy smoker in my time and never liked to apply stuff to grotty hands or have stuff on my hands that went on and in my mouth along with a cigarette however a few weeks ago now I quit the dirty habit and now I am a happy none smoker and so I can apply this regulary but I also bought this because recently I had a nasty accident involving a knife that went through my finger. Although this injury has healed it has left a nasty scar but more than that, the skin that is healing is very tight around the base of the finger and thickened up so I felt that some sort of gentle cream may help simply moisturise the skin a little and therefore help to make it feel more supple and less tight even if that feeling was only temporary.
This I bought from Amazon on a recent little spending spree. I'd heard and seen about and seen the brand on sale in many supsermarkets and chemists and opted to buy this one because it appealed being called 'Ultra Healing', its that simple!
This hand cream comes in a really nice, high quality off white coloured squeezy tube and on the front of it in black and orange writing we are told that it is Jergens Ultra Healing Hand Cream 'Nourishes & Heals' and that it is 'Hydrating cream improves dryness at the source for visibly healthier hands with Vitamins C,E and B5' and is meant to be used on extra dry skin and of course is a hand cream then on the back of the tube other information listed includes being told a bit of information about the product and how to use it, the ingredients are listed, the size is stated (which in my case I bought a 75ml tube) and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly stated. There is a flip-top opening to the bottom of it and like I have already stated this is a really nice looking tube of product and it is informative enough too and easy to use.
Well this cream is a smooth as silk medium consistency lotion that is easy to squeeze out of the tube but it isn't one bit drippy and its white in colour with a sort of subtle hint of a soapy kind of aroma which really isn't strong but its light and pleasant enough and in my opinion suitable for either of the sexes to use for this reason.
All you need of this per application is a small blob and a little of it really does go a very long way and when applying it, it does feel quite greasy and thick and it takes a good couple of minutes to soak in and whilst drying made my hands look like they have a thick layer of grease of them and not great to be honest however when dry this lotion disappears, my hands no longer look greasy and my hands are left feeling naturally smooth as silk! I have to say I love this stuff but when I first used a blob of it I was slightly worried to the greasiness of it but like I say all of that disappears quickly.
I use this often on my hands and I really love this one and although it is rather greasy when applying it, it has done nothing but good for my dry skin on my hands. My hands are 38 years old, I've bitten my nails and cuticles for years and smoked and my hands were starting to age and look dry however this not only moisturises and makes my skin look better when just applied but in the long term with using it several times a day over just a week (I have now been using it more like a couple of months!) my hands feel more soft and supple even when I haven't applied it and look overall better.
This is great for dry skin and it certainly helps the tightness I suffer from with my finger, in fact I think it's even helped to reduce the dark red scar I had but whether that's because it really has helped that or simply made the skin feel and appear softer I'm not totally sure but either way this is perfect for me and my needs. No more dry skin! Result!
I really do recommend this stuff for aging and/or dry hands. If you don't need a really heavy duty hand lotion then don't get this as you may find it too rich for your needs but for me it's turned out a great little find and I will continue to not only purchase this particular hand lotion in the future but I can't wait to try other Jergens products out in the future too!
