Johnson's 24 Hour Moisture Hand Cream
Advantages: non-greasy, long lasting, cheap, pink packaging
Disadvantages: May not appeal to you if you dislike girly things
Dry hands - the result of lack of care and attention to our mitts! Long baths, cold weather, skin irritations, too much washing up are all factors which can cause our hands to feel wilted or like sandpaper. Either way, it's not pleasant and is certainly not glamorous! From my previous reviews you will see all things moisturising are a popular topic, and this is because apart from suffering from dry skin - moisturising is key to anti-aging, and making sure the skin has been given a good drink.
I initially bought Johnson's 24 moisture hand cream for my Mum as part of her Mother's day hamper I put together, before also buying it for myself. The packaging is a pretty pink, and of course Johnson's is a trusted brand in skincare - two factors which I found hard to resist. The price was also in my opinion a steal - at around the £2 mark, for a 50ml tube.
I tend to be quite over generous when applying my beauty products and handcream is no exception. I dread to think how many products I have been through over the years! So, what is important is not only value for money, but a product which goes along by
being easy to distribute across the skin, and also doesn't require the whole tube to relieve dryness.
Johnsons 24 Hour Moisture Hand Cream is a soft balm designed to leave hands feeling soft and moisturised. Johnsons 24 Hour Moisture Hand Cream combines skin conditioners, natural moisturiser, and softening oil- and soaks in to boost 24 hour hydration.Johnsons 24 Hour Moisture Hand Cream helps stop the 3 signs of dryness:
* Reduce skin tightness
* Reduce skin roughness
* Refresh dull looking hands.
What I really like about Johnson's 24 hour hand cream, is that a small splodge is enough to work into the hands and it sinks in quickly too. There is also no greasiness whatsoever - a pet hate with handcreams as it makes it impossible to do anything. Yes, you can get moisturising mits for the more intensive/greasier handcreams - but could you really see yourself doing the weekly shop wearing them?!! This is why I like a nice, easy, soft and gentle handcream which leaves my hands feeling soft - not greasy.
The cream itself is white, not pink as you may imagine from the packaging! It has a very light consistency - certainly not runny, yet easy to rub in and distribute across all areas of the hands. It has a fragrant smell to it, not synthetic but quite floral, mixed with a whiff of fabric softener.
Perhaps the one aspect some may find off-putting - is this really is a girly product, in packaging, smell (only faint in all fairness) and marketing. I realise that brands such as Nivea try and appeal to both sexes by throwing "hand SOS" on the front - but guys this is one product probably best left for Mothers and Girlfriends!
I would say this product is for average and moderately dry or sensitive skin. If you are using it because you have incredibly dry hands, then it may be best using or mixing this product with a Dermatological moisturiser, which is more medically suited to repairing the skin. If you are using as just a regular part of your beauty regime though, or hands are only slightly dry/cracked I would say this product is a worthy purchase.
Overall, I think this handcream is the type of product that's absolutely fantastic to put on before bed. When I do this, I wake up with beautifully soft hands. I also like doing this because it gives the cream 8 or so hours to sink in without being washed off so it can really get to work. Having said that, my hands still feel reasonably soft if I apply the handcream during the day and then wash my hands. Price wise, it's almost unbeatable compared with rival brands so if you are looking for a cheaper option I'd certainly recommend it to you on all fronts, even if the guys might find it a bit too girly!
