~~LAURA MERCIER ALMOND COCONUT MILK HAND CRÈME~~
I am a regular user of hand moisturising products as I want my hands to feels nice and soft. I really can't stand dry rough hands so I do my best to moisturise my hands as often as possible. I have in the past used a variety of products; I have liked some and disliked others. Last Christmas, my friend gave me a toiletry hamper from House of Fraser with lots of good stuff including Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Hand Crème, the one I am reviewing today. I should say this is my first time of using Laura Mercier products.
Here goes my experience with this hand crème (cream in English).....
~Availability and Price~
The cream is manufactured by Laura Mercier Cosmetics, USA and distributed by Gurwitch Products, LLC, Houston, USA. The cream is just one of the body and bath product ranges they manufacture. In the UK, I have not seen the cream in most high street supermarkets and pharmacies which sell toiletry as I had expected. It is available from House of Fraser and some online stores as well as from Amazon in the Health and Beauty Category.
In the UK, the cream is available in 50g tubes bottles. The price ranges from £14.00 to £16.00 from online stores. I am not sure how much my friend bought the hamper for but my research shows that the cream on its own would cost ~ £13.00 from House of Fraser.
~Packaging and Visibility~
The cream comes in a simple transparent plastic tube bottle which is about 10cm high and has a light grey screw on plastic lid. The design and overall shape of the bottle is good and well balanced so the bottle can stand on the lid and does not tip over*. The bottle is also made of good quality plastic, crack free, soft to press and allows easy squeezing to release the cream. The cream is decanted from the bottle through a small hole located on the mouth of the bottle. The cream pours out well from the bottle but careful if you squeeze too hard, too much of the cream will ooze out resulting in wastage. .
*Standing the bottle on the lidthis is an advantage when the cream is low level or about to run out. Standing the bottle on the lid allows the cream to move towards the mouth of the bottle hence less squeezing force is required to release the cream, also means less hassles of having to tilting the bottle and having to wait for the cream to move down, especially when in a hurry. Crucially important in these hard financial times, this minimises the wastage as nearly the last drop which can come out of the bottle can be used.
*I wouldn't stand the bottle on the lid if there is plenty of cream usually more than half as the cream will exert too much pressure and just a slight squeeze would see the cream squirting all over under pressure.
Environment wise, the bottled is made of plastic that can be recycled which is a good for the environment.
The label text is at the front with the words "laura mercier almond coconut milk hand crème" clearly visible in brown font and faint text "body and bath" in white font. Other information including the product name in other languages, weight of the contents and manufacturer information is printed on the other side of the bottle.
~Composition and Application~
I noticed that there is no information about the ingredient contents of this cream on the bottle but the information is available online as product information.
The ingredients in the cream seem well balanced. The cream is non greasy. It is creamish-beige in colour and has a smooth non runny consistence compared to other creams.
It is fairly easy to apply but a bit of massaging into the skin and along the nails always gives best results. It is easily absorbed into the skin and leaves the skin with a soft and refreshing feeling. The cream keeps the skin fairly moisturised without the greasiness associated with other creams.
The smell is nice and the presence of coconut milk in this cream is obvious. For those who love coconut like me, the smell is really nice but I do appreciate that it can be overpowering to those who do not like coconut products.
I would say this cream is ideal for women but some men may also like it.
The cream is meant to be suitable for all skin types but like everything associated with people, the cream may not be suitable for everyone.
According to the manufacturer, the cream penetrates deep and it replenishes and locks in moisture into the skin. Using this cream should result in softer, smoother hands. I have been using this cream for three months now and I agree, my hands feel really good and my nails are also responding very well to this cream. It's just a shame that I can't keep long nails.
For the good job it does, I would recommend it but it is rather expensive so not sure many would buy it including myself!
This is what the manufacturer says about the cream, "Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Hand Crème is a deep penetrating crème that leaves the skin velvety soft to ensure the healthiest and smoothest hands. The amazingly rich crème never leaves a greasy film on hands. Grape and Olive Oils soften and moisturize, while soy proteins rich in amino acids help in the repair process. Almond Coconut Milk is a warm, rich fragrance with powdered sugar, vanilla extract and a hint of cinnamon. Includes notes of vanilla mousse as well as vanilla meringue."
