“ Brand: Mavala / Varnish / Type: Nail Polish / Subcategory: Nail Varnish / Suitable for: Nails „
This is a review of Mavala Rouge Rubis Nail Varnish which was one of the first items I opened in my fabulous beauty advent calendar. I was pleased to see this brand as I had never used it before but seen it in the beauty section of Debenhams and wondered how good it was.
A special mention goes to this for being also packaged as a cute angel tree decoration. It never made it on to my tree but I loved the idea. The actual varnish was a miniature size (5ml) and packaged with a gold lid that has the Mavala M logo printed inside the top. The top has a brush when you screw off the lid as with most nail varnishes.
The colour Rouge Rubis is a fabulous Christmas ruby red colour, with a bright red sparkle within so I was pleased to try this for Christmas. I applied it to my fingernails on the night before Christmas Eve hoping it would last me until the end of Boxing day. I used a base and top coat to give longevity (my Nails Inc ones) and loved the coverage from one coat although I gave it two coats to add to the staying power. It dried quickly with the help of the top coat and was easy to apply in general.
Sadly, the next morning (Christmas Eve) I noticed chipping to my right hand which I immediately touched up. Later that day there was more missing nail varnish and that evening I had to remove the lot as it looked such a mess. The glitter took a lot of hard scrubbing to remove which felt like a lot of effort for less than 24 hour's wear.
A 5ml bottle of this polish retails for £3.50 on the Beauty Bay website. Debenhams sells sets of this polish too and they are often discounted in their sales.
I was not at all impressed with this nail polish and will probably only use it on my toes from now on. No repurchase on the cards for me.
