Advantages: Gets hands clean, anti-bacterial, gets rid of food smells from skin
Disadvantages: smell is a bit sickly at first
I like to use an anti-bacterial hand wash in my kitchen, as I'm very conscious of washing my hands when cooking- especially if I've been handling meat. I find hand wash more convenient than soap but it can be a little bit more expensive, so when I saw Wilkinson's had this product on special offer at around 79p a couple of months ago, I decided to try it.
The hand wash is 'odour neutralising' therefore in theory, if you have been cooking or handling anything with a particularly strong scent, such as onions, garlic or fish it will help get rid of it. The antibacterial agent was also a big selling point, as obviously when handling food, you want to have your hands as clean as possible.
The hand wash comes in a clear bottle through which you can see the liquid which is a lime green colour. It has a picture of a lime and a flower on the front and the top of the actual pump is quite wide which I find useful as it minimises the risk of the bottle toppling over when you press the pump.
When it comes to using the hand wash I find it to be a nice consistency - quite thick without being gloopy. It does contain a lime extract and lime is definitely the predominant smell. I absolutely love citrus scents, especially lime, but I found this to be a bit too strong even for my tastes.
Once you actually wash your hands the hand wash lathers up well and leaves my hands feeling very clean. It doesn't dry out my skin either which is great because at this time of the year my skin is often quite dried out in the first place.
I have found the 'odour neutralising' part of this does work. It seems to get rid of the scent of whatever I have been cooking, but at the same time leaves it's own strong scent on my hands. The scent left on the skin is not as sickly as the scent when I'm using the product - it's much more subtle - and I think it smells a little bit like coconut and lime.
I bought this on special offer as mentioned before, but the regular price for a 300ml bottle is £1.69 from Boots. That's probably about average for a bottle of hand wash, but there are definitely cheaper ones available out there.
Overall, I found this to be a good hand wash. If you cook a lot and have problems with your hands smelling of garlic, fish etc.. then this might be a good product to try.
Summary: Not bad
