I use hand wash products in both the kitchen and the bathroom as I tend to wash my hands frequently and therefore need a soft liquid soap which is mild to skin. I usually use shops own brand as hand wash is not something I want to spend a lot of money on. However I recently picked up a bottle of this Pears hand wash and because it was on offer I decided it was worth trying.
The product comes in an attractive transparent bottle through which you can see the thick amber coloured liquid soap. It looks like hot lava in a bottle and is rather striking. There is a touch of gold decoration on the pump and on the front of the bottle. This is definitely the kind of hand wash I'd put on display if I was going to have a party or invite relatives over as it looks quite good on the side of the sink or the windowsill!
The brand name is printed on the front of the 237ml or 8fl oz sized bottle. Underneath the brand name is some useful quick access information about the product. It is described as being "mild and gentle" as well as being "100% soap free" and also "dermatologist tested". The bottle also has a label on the back which provides a list of full ingredients. There is also some interesting facts about the product including the fact that this soap formula is Ph balanced, contains special 'agents' for conditioning your skin as well as "mild cleansers". The soap does not contain any "synthetic thickeners".
The pump action dispenser is child's play to use and is so well designed that I don't imagine it ever snapping or clogging up. You are able to dispense as much liquid soap as you need by pressing on the pump either lightly or pressing it down as far as it can go. I don't find I need much more than a 5p piece sized dollop.
The soap lathers if you rub your hands together but is not overly foamy. I didn't think my cheap shop's own hand wash would be much different in terms of experience but when using this Pears hand wash you can feel that the soap is a lot softer and more luxurious. In fact you can feel a moisturising sensation over your skin as you rub.
The hand wash has a fresh, mature fragrance which is quite nice although quite conservative. It certainly smells clean and the fragrance has bright, sharp tones which are appealing to me.
The soap bubbles rinse away easily and when I've dried my hands they feel surprisingly soft and as though I've just used a moisturising product. I find this very impressive and appreciate this benefit of the hand wash since I frequently wash my hands and would like my skin to be in the best condition it can be. This hand wash certainly helps in that effort.
Overall I'm very impressed with this product. It looks good on display and more importantly it leaves hands soft, clean and smelling fresh. This hand wash is slightly more expensive than the products I usually purchase but I'd be willing to pay the extra to receive the benefits of this Pears product.
Pears is a Unilever product and they also manufacturer a range of products including bar soap and shower gel.
Summary: Great hand wash which cleans but with added benefits.
