A luxurious hand cream from Philosophy

Unfortunately, I suffer with problematic skin on my hands, which, if left to its own devices will become extremely dry, split and subsequently bleed along my knuckles. As a result, it is necessary for me to use quality hand creams several times each day with a good application at bedtime. I have tried various products over the years with only a few brands being able to tackle my problem. Approximately a month ago, I received a parcel from a kind and thoughtful friend and inside I discovered some pampering products; one of which was Philosophy's Time On Your Hands Exfoliating Hand Cream and this review discusses my thoughts.

Whilst I was familiar with the Philosophy brand and have a real passion for beauty products, I had never previously tried any of them due to their high prices. Consequently, receiving a tube of the luxurious hand cream was a real treat for me and I couldn't wait to try it out. I love the thought provoking black text, which is displayed on the front of the pure white plastic tube where we are provided with the brand's definition of the word "philosophy". I don't normally believe in copying text into my reviews, but I simply had to replicate the information contained on the front of the tube, which reads as follows "philosophy - the time on your hands is well earned, you're paid your dues, paid your bills and now you can finally take care of yourself, not to mention your hands, explore dream and discover the second childhood that awaits you".

Whilst I have considerable experience with using dozens of brands of hand creams over the years, I cannot admit to having used one that contains exfoliating properties. The small amount of text contained on the reverse of the tube was promising where Philosophy claim that the cream offers long lasting moisturising properties in addition to skin conditioning due to the ingredients of panthenol and proteins. It is recommended that the cream be used both morning and night and on unscrewing the lid I discovered a small piece of foil, which was hygienically protecting the dispensing area. It was easily lifted away to reveal a small opening and I was able to effortlessly dispense a small amount of the pure white thick cream.

The consistency and texture were very luxurious and reminded me of Vaseline, but without the stickiness. Despite the cream offering a rich texture and appearance, it was very light on my skin and was easily applied and spread although I cannot report of witnessing any exfoliating particles. I was pleasantly surprised with the fragrance of the hand cream, as I had anticipated a delicate floral aroma instead of the most refreshing and uplifting scent of menthol that greeted me. Whilst the aroma was initially fairly dominant, it gradually faded as the luxurious rich cream sunk deeply into my skin.

I had anticipated the cream to take some time to fully absorb especially as it was thick, but within just a few minutes it was fully absorbed and as a result, it left the surface of my skin feeling wondering soft and smooth without any traces of stickiness. This is clearly a high quality hand cream, as my skin felt thoroughly moisturised without any patches of dryness or itching. As I am now at the grand old age of 45, an important factor for me in relation to hand creams is those that assist in reducing the appearance of ageing, particularly as our hands are one of the first areas of our bodies to display those tell tale signs.

I cannot admit to any cream transforming the appearance of my hands into that of a twenty year old supermodel, as there are certain aspects of ageing that I have to gracefully accept. My hands display a number of fine lines and slight wrinkles which, unfortunately, are here to stay, but I believe that my regular use of high quality moisturising hand creams smoothes out the appearance of lines and wrinkles and slows down the appearance of any new ones.

I have used many brands of hand creams in the past, which need reapplying directly after washing my hands, but a point I loved about this product is that the cream was not rinsed away after hand washing. Consequently, as directed, I found it necessary to use the cream only twice a day to obtain quality results. I was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to try out such a luxurious product, which was presented in a 28.4g tube. As I did not make this purchase myself, I have taken a look online to find some prices and at the time of writing the only store I can find it is ebay where a brand new jar containing 2 oz/56.8 g will set you back £13. I would advise that Amazon normally stock this product, but at the time of writing they are out of stock

This is an absolutely gorgeous hand cream and I am so grateful to my very thoughtful friend for sending it to me. It comes with my full recommendation together with five stars.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
