So I had never tried anything by REN prior to getting a gift set free in a magazine last month. REN make clean products that are free from skin-unfriendly ingredients including: synthetic fragrance, pore-blocking petrochemicals, sulfate detergents, synthetic colours, animal ingredients and parabens. This hand and body cream is formulated with Javanese Vetiver Oil, Glycerides and Essential Fatty Acids from Jojoba Oil and Shea Butter nourish and protect the skin aiming to leave skin optimally hydrated, smoothed and conditioned. This cream is available from REN directly online or from Space NK, John Lewis and Selfridges. It has an RRP of £9 for 100ml. The cream itself has a fairly light consistency, the first thing I noticed was the smell. I think it is the Vetiver oil - which I have never heard of - the cream smells very musky - almost like mould- and masculine which put me off this cream a little. As this cream is light, it is very easy to rub in and it is quickly absorbed into the skin. I tend to use this just on my hands, when I have massaged a 20 pence sized amount into my hands, they instantly feel soft and moisturised - if a little smelly ;) This cream really give my hands a moisture boost if they are feeling a little dry, and because it absorbs within seconds I can get on with my daily routine without having to wait for it to sink in. The fragrance does linger on the hands, but it is not overpowering. It can only be smelt if I put my nose to my hands. The moisturisation does last hours, until I wash my hands, then I just apply a small amount again. I have tried using this cream on my legs after showering. I found that like with the hands, it sunk in very quickly and my legs did feel soft, but in no way is this a luxurious, extra moisturising cream for the body. My legs didn't feel dry within or to the touch, but they didn't feel silky smooth or THOROUGHLY moisturised - this is obviously due to nature of the light cream. For me this cream would be adequate as a daily body cream, but for dry and very dry skins this would no where near provide enough moisture for them. This is the reason why I tend to use this just on my hands, as I feel it provides more nourishment in this use. Overall, this is a nice cream to use, and I really like the ethos of the brand, but I can't help but think that I have used better multipurpose creams - which were cheaper! That combined with the fragrance puts me off purchasing this. I think that this cream is more suitable for a male due the fragrance and the light nature of the cream. I definitely wouldn't recommend this to those with dry skins. I award this 3 stars.
