I'd like to start by saying that I bought this nail polish for around the £3 mark off Amazon about 6 months ago. Since then, the formula has completely dried up, becoming sticky and thick. It's virtually impossible to apply properly now which is a real shame considering it used to dry rather quickly and last for a really long time.
Unlike other base and top coats it doesn't just peel off easily. It isn't the fastest drying clear nail polish I've ever used but it certainly makes up for this in its strength. It stays on for ages if its just used as a strengthening coat on its own.
I'd definitely consider buying this again if it didn't dry up and get thick so quickly. I made sure that the lid was always on tight so no air could dry it up but the formula mustn't be very long lasting. Another element I love about this nail polish is the brush. It's not too thick and not too thin, this goes for most of the Revlon nail polish range. I only used this topcoat with their 'nail enamel' nail varnishes and it seemed to stop them from chipping quite well although I do think it could have lasted longer.
In conclusion I would recommend this nail varnish to anyone who isn't expecting amazing long lasting results and is ready to settle for a short term base and top coat solution. I'm not saying that what happened to me will happen to everyone but it could be a major fault with the formula!
I bought this Revlon top coat for £6.49, as part of a 3 for 2 offer on Revlon products. I have never used a top coat on my nails before using this one, and now I don't know what I did without it! I have always had a problem with my nail polish chipping after a few days, and now I have a 6 month old I don't have time to touch up or redo my nails all the time anymore!
This top coat is in the usual style Revlon nail polish bottle, but as the bottle is clear and the lid is white it just looks really classy and expensive even though it isn't. It looks really nice, not cheap at all. The lid unscrews and screws back on really easily, and the brush is so easy to use. It glides over your nails so smoothly, just a few strokes of this brush covers your whole nail and it is really neat, no smudges. The only thing is, the actual liquid is very thin and runny. When you lift the brush out of the bottle, it all runs down the wand, so you have to hold it over the bottle for a few seconds for it to all run off, then wipe the excess off the brush on the top of the bottle. Even though it is runny in the bottle, it is not hard to apply, it is thick enough to work quickly with.
This takes a little while to dry though, it is suppose to be dry in 60 seconds. However mine did take longer, I touched one of my nails after about a minute and a half and they were still sticky, and I ended up with a finger print mark on my nail and had to redo it, so don't touch your nails for a good 5 minutes after using this! Allow it to dry fully before doing anything.
The reason for a top coat on your nails is to protect your nail polish you have applied from chipping and wearing off. You apply this base coat on top of your nail polish, it is clear so does nothing to change the colour. I couldn't believe how shiny my nails looked after applying this top coat. It made my nails look like they had been done professionally, I am so impressed! I am even more impressed that after a good week of having this top coat on over my nails, they only need redoing now as they have grown so fast, and they need touching up at the bottom of the nail! I have no chips at all at the top of the nail, it still looks as shiny, and perfect as the day I did it. It really does cut down the need to touch up or redo your nails all the time.
I would never not where a top coat on my nails now, it saves so much time touching them up! My nails are so shiny and I have had a few comments on this too. I love the way it has made my nails look, and I would definitely use this product again, and highly recommend it.
