It is that time of year again, every part of us is about to be covered up with clothes, we are already reaching for the winter woollies, scarves and gloves. It is amazing how so many of us seem to suddenly remember that our body parts can do with some help on looking good when they are on show, but when we put them into winter hibernation, they get ignored.
I am as guilty of this as anyone, and one year a while ago, when the comfort food had hit the plate and the body treatments had been made redundant when the clocks changed, I found myself facing spring with nails that were weak and not able to grow as they were spliting. I had, had a very stressful winter and my nails and skin etc; showed the evidence of my inner health and for my ignoring them. I would claim that my life at that time didn't allow me the time to care about me, but this is a lie as I could have found the odd five minutes here and there.
I needed some help and one of the products I turned to was Sally Hansen's Triple Strong, it is an advanced formula nail fortifier. You can either use as a base coat and a top coat nail polish or just use two coats and wear no polish. It is applied like any nail polish and gives just a clear coating. Either way, you then have to apply a further top coat every three days, until you change your polish or decide to reapply. Then, just repeat the process.
Now this is not a miracle worker, you will not wake up the following morning with long, strong talons. However your nails will grow stronger and your regrowth will be strong.
When my nails were strong again, I started to use it occasionally as a base coat, the instructions do not tell me to do this, but I think it does help.
It comes off with nail polish remover and smells like old fashioned pear drops. It drys quite quickly.
It costs around a fiver for the 13ml bottle, but that really isn't expensive for the job it is doing and it lasts well.
If you have strong nails, do not waste your money, but if you feel they could do with some fortifying, some much needed strength, then I think you will find this does the trick.
As I said in an earlier review of a nail product- I understand eating a cube of jelly every day is also great for strong nails, but I know where gelatine comes from- so that is a no thank you from me!
