Simple Kind to Skin Intensive Hand Cream
Advantages: Very moisturising, quickly absorbed, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: No fragrance
I recently decided to replenish my dwindling stock of hand creams, and being a typical woman, ended up coming home with two different ones because I couldn't decide which one to buy. I justified this decision based on the fact I like to keep hand cream in different locations around the house, in work, and my handbag. Of the two I bought, this Simple one is my favourite, and one I consider to be great value for money.
Typically, I don't like to spend more than £5 on a hand cream, as I think this is an area where reasonably priced products can do as good a job as the premium brands, and as I get through a lot of hand cream in winter, I can't afford to be splashing out on the expensive stuff. This one cost £2.55 for 100ml, and I bought it from Boots so I got advantage points too.
The packaging is nothing to write home about, being very plain in white with green writing. It resembles the Simple brand and although it's uninspiring, it's not a premium brand so I wasn't expecting great things. The only annoying thing is that being white, it can sometimes blend in with the random paperwork I tend to carry round with me in my handbag, so I end up fishing around for my hand cream. A brighter colour would jump out at me more, but lets be honest it's probably a sign that I need to clear out my handbag more often. The bottle has a flip top lid, which I've never had any issues with in terms of leaking, nor does it end up getting congealed gunk clogging the opening, like some hand creams can after repeated use.
As you'd expect, the cream itself is white, and in keeping with the Simple brand it is unfragranced. I must admit, I quite like a little bit of fragrance from hand creams, but it's the effectiveness of the product that wins me over so I'm not too bothered about this. The fact it is unscented makes it suitable for even sensitive skin.
Applying the cream is a pleasant process, as it feels nice and nourishing and starts to sink into the skin immediately. This makes it suitable for using in work, as there's nothing more inconvenient than a ringing phone when you've got hand cream refusing to be absorbed into your skin. It literally takes seconds to apply this, and be ready to get on with your daily life as it doesn't leave your hands greasy or slippery in the slightest. The consistency is just right, being creamy but not too thin or runny.
In terms of the moisturising effect, I would happily agree that this hand cream provides "intensive" moisuturisation. I have very dry hands at the moment which are starting to slightly crack in places, and I've noticed when I use this a few times a day, it leaves my hands in much better condition. It also seems to last in between hand washing as well, so you don't have to apply every time you wash your hands (which is useful because I'm finding myself needing the toilet a lot more in the cold weather!!).
The ingredients adding to the loveliness of this hand cream are Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Glycerin, and Allantion. I don't really pay much attention to ingredients lists, although anything containing Shea Butter and Vitamin E is usually a winner in my eyes.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hand cream for excellent moisturisation, without leaving you unable to do anything whilst waiting for it to sink in. I was considering knocking a star off for the lack of fragrance but as I don't think this has impacted on my life, and it is from Simple who are known for unscented products, I think this would be harsh. I'm awarding the full five stars.
Summary: Great product from the Simple range
