After two bottles of expensive hand cream mysteriously went missing from my desk at work, it was time to look for a cheaper alternative.
I bought this Skin Therapy hand cream from Wilkinsons, at the bargain price of 69p for 75ml. I was immediately attracted to the packaging - it is simple but classic, and looks more expensive than it actually is, so wouldn't look out of place alongside more premium brands. It is also a handy size to pop in your handbag or keep on an already cluttered desk.
The cream promises to have been specially developed to provide instant relief for dry hands, with a glycerin enriched formulation to soften hands without greasiness or residue.
Working in an aggressively air-conditioned office, I often find that my hands get sore and dry and my nails become brittle. This hand cream has a nice light texture, it is a translucent white colour, and rubbed into my skin nicely. A little goes a long way. Although it is not as thick in texture as other creams I have used, it sank in well and didn't leave any stickiness on my skin, so I could continue typing straight away without making the keys greasy.
The tube lasted about six months, being applied twice a day Monday to Friday, and during that time I do think my hands became much softer. Other creams leave a residue but don't seem to actually improve the skin, and wash off under the tap. This cream has a lasting effect, and my hands were less dry after washing.
My nails also seemed to improve. In the past my nails have been brittle and broken easily, plus I have a terrible habit of biting them off if they break. In the past six months they have grown progressively stronger and less likely to dry out, fray and break. I now have a set of nails that I can take pride in!
All in all, this cream is excellent value for money, and I will certainly be going back for more. I have tried other cheap hand creams in the past and this one is far superior. In my opinion it is on a par with much more expensive brands.
And it has even managed to escape the attentions of the office hand cream thief - bonus!
