Advantages: It was free

Disadvantages: Sticky, thick and unpleasant

I haven't used very many Soap and Glory products but I have used a lot of different handcreams. This particular one is low on my list of 'favourites' I'm afraid. I was given a 125ml tube last Christmas by a work colleague as part of our Secret Santa event. Initially I was quite pleased when I opened my gift as I like to try new products and although I had seen this on the shelf in Bootsl lots of times, I hadn't actually bought it for myself.

The packaging is different - bright pick with humorous puns all over the place, if you like that sort of thing. It stands on its flip top lid and I noticed it is called 'Hand Food' as opposed to 'Hand Cream', implying, I think, that you are not only going to moisturise and hydrate your hands, but give them a good 'feed' into the bargain.

I am unsure what I was expecting of this cream to be honest but I used it the very same night I had received it - yes, I'm an eager beaver! It is white cream and of a very thick consistency I found. The smell was pleasant enough, though possibly a little too sweet for me personally. I smoothed it into my hands as directed and waited for it to do its work.

It looked greasy on my hands for ages after I had applied it and I could also see an oily film just sitting there on top of my skin. I remember the first time I used it I was drinking a galss of wine at the time and although I waited for an eternity for it to just sink in, it didn't seem to want to and as a result of this, my wine glass kept on slipping out of my hand - and no, I had only had the ONE glass, I assure you!

I tried this Hand Food on several more ocacsions but I could never get away with it. I found that I had to actually use a tissue over my hands just to rub off the excess every time I applied it. A friend suggested I was perhaps using too much of it at once but sadly, although I have tried using less and less, I still get a horrible gloopy sticky greasy feeling which is most unpleasant. It makes me feel like I want to rush off and wash my hands.

I am afraid therefore that I cannot recommend this 'astonishing' hand cream to anyone. For me it was a big let down and a huge disappointment.
