Soap & Glory Hand Food
Advantages: gorgeous fragrance
Disadvantages: not moisturizing enough in a tough situation
I've just returned from spending a month in Austria, and the Soap and Glory Hand Food Hand Cream was the hand cream that I took with me to use. I took the small travel size with me - the 50ml size.
Soap and Glory Hand Food is available in 2 sizes - the full size version, 125ml, priced at £5.00 - and the travel size version, 50ml, priced at £2.50.
I've used Soap and Glory Hand Food previously, and have always been happy with it. I had the little brand new unused travel size left over from a Christmas gift set, and so I decided to take this with me on my travels.
As I've just mentioned I've used this previously with no problems whatsoever. I think that it's a great little hand cream, especially for the price. I've always found it to keep my hands soft and smooth, with no greasy after feel at all. It is quickly and easily absorbed into my hands and nails. A little bit of this goes a long way, you don't need much at all, it lasts for absolutely ages.
The best thing about this though is the fragrance, it is absolutely divine. It's quite a sweet smelling fragrance, and it lasts for absolutely ages on your skin, you can still smell it hours later. The hand cream states that it contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow, I think it's a combination of all of these that you can smell, with the sweet marshmallow probably the most prominent.
Now for the bad - I think that the water in Austria must be quite hard and harsh, I found that my skin was very very dry and chapped and quite sore. My hands especially became very dry, cracked and chapped. I found that the Soap and Glory Hand Food just couldn't cope and was not even solving the problem at all. I was applying the hand cream on an hourly basis and it was still making no difference whatsoever. I will say though that no matter how much of this I applied it still sank right in and still left no greasy after feel at all. I could even apply several applications in one go and it would still sink right in and still be non greasy. I ended up buying a different hand cream whilst there.
So in conclusion I think that I would still continue to buy Soap and Glory Hand Food for use in the UK, I wouldn't buy it for a winter holiday, or use it throughout a harsh winter as it doesn't appear to be enough for me anyway. I toyed between 3 and 4 stars for this and would have gone with 3.5 if that was an option.
Summary: gorgeous fragrance, have found it's downfall though
