Soap and glory hand food.
In a normal days work for me, I'll use an alcohol hand sanitizer and thoroughly wash my hands a million times a day. Being a nurse is very rewarding and I love my job, but unfortunately my hands really suffer especially after long days on the ward. During my shift I try to put hand cream on when it's possible but I needed something that absorbed quickly, didn't make my hands greasy and lasted even after washing my hands. I love the soap and glory range (as you can see from previous reviews) so trying out their hand cream Hand Food was a no brainer for me! So I purchased the product from my local boots store and hoped that it would sooth my chapped, dry hands.
Price: £5 for 125ml from Boots
The bottle is very classic Soap and Glory, with the gorgeous trademark hot pink and vintage style lettering. It is complete with a convenient flip top to enable the user to squeeze the product out and control how much product is used, I've had problems with hand creams before because the product is too thick so I had to really squeeze hard on the bottle but with Hand Food this isn't a problem. One thing about the product that really stands out is the scent. Scented with fennel and lotus flower extract the product smells absolutely gorgeous and subtly scents your hands with a beautiful soft smell that isn't too over powering. Using the product is very easy and the cream almost melts into the skin, instantaneously softening my hands. If I have a spare few seconds before sitting down with my notes I'll apply some hand cream and Hand Food is perfect because it absorbs quickly so I can still actually hold the pen!
My hands feel well looked after and really get the nourishment they need from Hand Food. The alcohol gel really shreds at my hands and I often come home with splitting knuckles and sores on my fingers but since I started using Hand Food I haven't looked back, and often the other nurses on the ward are asking for some during the shift! The only thing about the product itself that annoys me is that the 125ml bottle is too narrow to fit in my tunic so I can't carry it around in my pocket, but I just picked up the smaller travel size and could use my hand cream whenever I felt like it!
I would recommend this product to anyone, whether your hands are in desperate need of nourishment or if you just want a luxurious treat for your hands. At £5 a pop the product is on the more expensive scale but its definitely worth it. A small blob goes a long way and my hands remained protected even after 2 or 3 washes before I felt like reapplying.
Summary: A nurse's saviour!
