Tesco Honeysuckle and silk handwash
This is a really great handwash if you are trying to keep costs down. Tesco sell a range of these silk handwashes and also others with aloe vera and anti bacterial ones too and they are all pretty good value. This one cost 55p for 500ml which is a bargain compared to the branded ones I feel. I also find it lasts well as you don't need to use more than a pump's worth to wash your hands.
This is a very pale creamy yellow colour with a slight pearly quality and is a pretty thick liquid soap. The smell is floral, a bit like a honeysuckle not surprisingly with a sort of vanilla creaminess. I thought it couldn't actually contain silk but it does have a lovely silky feel to it when you use it. It also leaves my hands pleasantly moisturised and I don't feel like I have to go running for hand cream after I have washed my hands with this.
I have sensitive skin and have had no adverse reaction, I also have had no comment from my step daughter who suffers from eczema and is often over here. I use it for my nearly three year old granddaughter too when she is over here at least twice a week often more.
This is one that I have just finished and it has been in our downstairs loo for about two month. We all use the downstairs loo during the day and so do visitors so it gets a lot of use. I also feed ancient and decrepit cat in there to keep her food away from the younger more voracious cats and after feeding her I always wash my hands, this is also the first port of call for hand washing when i have been in the garden. This little hand basin and the soap in here gets more use than any other in our house and so two months for 55/60p is pretty good value.
It tells me on the front of the bottle that they have very kindly added moisturisers and natural extracts whatever they might be. Needless to say this does have sodium laureth sulphate as a surfactant and various other chemical sounding ingredients but about half way through the list 'Lonicera Caprifolium 'Extract which is Japanese Honeysuckle as well as 'hydrolyzed silk' is listed so it has indeed got both ingredients from the name of the product in amongst all the other more chemical sounding ones.
This does not ever claim to be fair-trade or eco friendly and at that price it cannot really be expected. This is not a product you buy to proclaim your eco friendly efforts. The bottle is however fully recyclable through where ever you recycle your plastics. The bottle is clear plastic so you can easily see how much of the product is left and you can go and buy a replacement in time before the old one runs out which I find useful.
The back of the bottle professes to be soap free and ph balanced so suitable for all to use. It will sting your eyes so if it does get in your eyes rinse thoroughly with lots of water.
This is a pretty good very cheap but effective and moisturising hand wash which I buy regularly in either this flavour or one of the others for a change. This is not anti bacterial so I don't have this in my kitchen where I always chose an anti bacterial hand wash as I feel it is important when handling food.
Once you have opened this you need to use this within 24months which is pretty likely even though it is a big bottle at 500ml I can't really see anyone using it for two years.
This is not the most exciting product but for the price I feel it is excellent value for money. It cleans my hands even when I have been gardening and have really muddy hands but never leaves them feeling dried out at all.
This is one product I buy regularly in the various scented options as I feel it is great value for money and smells good too.
Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.
Summary: A pretty good value for money general not anti bacterial handwash
