The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector
Advantages: does exactly what it promises, nourishes hands
Disadvantages: smells absolutely awful and is a bit on the pricey side.
So I went on a bit of a shopping spree in the body shop online store and picked up a few goodies! I've always liked the body shop because their products feel natural, luxurious and smell absolutely fantastic. I'm a hoarder of lip balms and hand creams, and in particular I'm always on the look out for a good hand cream that will nourish my tired and dried out hands. I've heard a lot of good things about the Hemp Hand Protector (also there are nourishing gloves are available but I think wearing gloves to bed is really annoying) so I bought it with very high hopes and expectations!
Price: Starting at £5 for 30ml and £10 for 100ml.
"Our best-selling Hemp Hand Protector helps soften and protect hands. It is dermatologically tested for very dry skin and contains Community Trade hemp seed oil.
Relieves very dry skin
Restores moisture and suppleness"
The packaging is very sleek and neat, the product is contained in a metal foil tube with a small screw top. I really like the packaging, it doesn't jump right out at you but it's not boring. The product is a very soft green colour which really exudes the impression of a soothing, nourishing cream. I purchased the 30ml tube which is a very handy size, doesn't take up too much room and can be taken anywhere. The product rubs in very well and absorbs easily leaving my hands feeling soft and healthy again. One thing I don't like about the product is the smell, I think it absolutely stinks. The smell very nearly put me off using it at all but I only use it in the morning and at night to avoid using it throughout the day so I don't inflict this awful smell onto anyone else!
After using the product for 2 weeks my hands feel amazing. I only use it twice a day and I've noticed a real difference in my hands. My nails are much stronger and my hands are incredibly soft and smooth, and I now have a pair of hands that don't look like a 90 year old lady's!
This product has definitely lived up to the hype for me, there is an incredible difference to my hands and wrists (I also rub some on my elbows if needed!) and I don't think they've ever been so soft in such a long time. The product is a bit pricey for only 30ml, if you have very dry hands and need to use some cream on a more regular basis than myself then a 30ml tube isn't going to last a very long time. Having said this, a small blob does go a long way and rubs in easily without leaving a greasy residue on your hands. As I said previously, the smell of the product was a huge let down for me.. it absolutely stinks! It lasts quite a long time too which is a disappointment but since the product works so well I'm willing to let that slide. I would recommend this product, definitely. Fantastic, reliable product with promising and long lasting results.
Summary: Brilliant product, shame about the stench.
