Advantages: Very moisturising, gentle on skin, affordable
Disadvantages: None
I'm a big fan of The Body Shop's range of Hemp skincare products and I decided to buy this to try when there was a recent 50% sale on.
It retails at £5.00 for a 250ml bottle which considering the quality is a reasonable price in my opinion and as I only need a small amount each time I wash my hands a bottle will last for quite a while. The hand wash is suitable for all skin types but as it's quite a rich and intense moisturiser it's best suited to very dry skin.
The Body Shop state that it provides 24 hour hydration which is a pretty big claim, but it actually does! It contains hemp seed oil and is soap free, meaning that it doesn't make my eczema on my wrist any worse if it comes into contact with it. None of the ingredients in it have been tested on animals which is a big advantage and it has been dermatologically tested. The hand wash comes in a medium sized 250ml bottle and as far as I know this is the only size available.
The bottle is made from sturdy plastic and the creamy white product is visible. The bottle has a label on the front and back of it which are the usual green and black Hemp colour scheme and there's information such as the brand & product name, a brief product description and a full list of ingredients written clearly on it. The bottle has a pump which can be unscrewed as well so you have the option of squeezing a blob out or using the pump.
I find the pump more practical though and although it's very small it's sturdy, easy to use and never gets jammed. The product can tend to block the dispenser hole up and dry/go tacky if I press the pump too hard but as long as I give it a quick rinse it's fine. The product itself is a thick, creamy lotion. The consistency is nice and smooth and it spreads over my skin easily without blobbing up. It lathers well and leaves my hands feeling instantly softer and well cared for as well as squeaky clean.
It washes off easily as it doesn't stick to my skin and there's no residue or greasy feeling left behind. The smell, which is the usual herbal Hemp scent lingers for a few minutes and quickly fades. The smell is okay - it took me a little while to get used to but it's not overpowering or anything. I tend to get dry patches inbetween my fingers and this has really helped soften them and reduce the dryness. After using it my hands feel soft all day and it definitely lives up to the 24 hour moisturising claim.
Overall I give this product five out of five stars and highly recommend it.
