Treacle Moon My Coconut Hand Wash
Advantages: Some people may like scent, Does the job.
Disadvantages: Scent is just too sweet, Not great to use all the time.
Last Christmas I received a bunch of goodies from the Treacle Moon range. I could not wait to get started on them all, and I have only recently got round to using this. It is the Coconut Hand Wash from their range. I had tried out many more of Treacle Moon's products and been really impressed, so I had high expectations of this. I like the design of these products as they remind me of Philosophy products but at a smidgen of the price. These also remind me of N-SPA products if you have used them.
If you are interested in picking up this hand wash, it is exclusively available in Tesco stores, online on their website or on the Treacle Moon website. It retails for around £2.50 which I think is a little expensive in comparison to other hand washes, but as this is probably not an everyday hand wash, it is more of a treat and luxury product but at a bargain price.
This particular hand wash is named 'My Coconut Island' and contains a nice little paragraph on the front of the bottle which I think is quirky and adds a little something different. I also feel that it makes the product look as if it cost much more than what it did. The bottle is see through and shows the white liquid inside. The pump is black in colour and the bottle itself is a generous 500ml meaning it does last a good while.
To use this hand wash is simple as you only need one or two squirts to clean the hands sufficiently. I did have trouble at first getting the pump to work, but now I've fixed it, it works fine. The first thing I noticed was that the hand wash is quite thick and creamy in consistency. I think this is a good thing as it gives it an element of luxury, and does help to moisturise the hands a little more than your basic hand wash. I found that it cleans my hands just as well as any other hand wash, and I found my hands were a little softer after user.
The main selling point of this product is most likely the scent. As it is 'my coconut island', you can bet that it smells simply of coconuts. Although not my favourite scent, I would not say I am someone to avoid the scent. I just did not get on with this product as the scent was just not great. Admittedly, it does smell of coconuts as expected, but I feel that it is just far too sweet to be used as a hand wash, and the smell really sticks to your hands for hours after use. Because of this, I don't think it is an acceptable hand wash to use on a daily basis and should be used more as a treat.
You get a generous 500ml amount in this bottle, which does mean that it lasts a long time. In terms of value for money, I think it is about right. I have had this bottle on the go for around a month in a family of three and there is still some left. However, it is just getting to the point now where I want to use it up and finish it. I would really only recommend this to lovers of the coconut scent!
Overall, the hand wash is effective in that it does the job and cleans hands thoroughly. I also found some benefits in that my hands were much more moisturised after using it. Unfortunately, the reason I will only be awarding this three stars is due to its scent. The scent is far too overpowering and sweet to use regularly throughout the day, and it really sticks on your hands so it is noticeable everywhere you go. I do find that it's a nice hand wash when used sparingly, but the scent is just far too overwhelming for me. Thanks for reading.
Summary: A nice hand wash, but not great for an everyday one.
