Treacle Moon is a newcomer when it comes to producing beauty products, their funky bottles look lovely in your bathroom and the products are all produced without animal testing and are available at a low price. The products are normally only available in Tesco stores which is a shame, my bottle of My Coconut Island rich hand cream would normally cost around £3 but I managed to pick one up in Poundland.

I'm someone who suffers from really dry skin on my hands, in the winter this is caused by the cold and in the summer by spending loads of time out in the garden. My hands also suffer from using household detergents without rubber gloves so I've always got a couple of bottles of hand cream dotted about to keep my paws moisturised and silky soft.

My coconut island handcream is one that really disappointed me, despite being advertised as a rich handcream for cooks and gardeners it did not help my hands very much at all. The cream is very thin, more like the texture of baby lotion than a nice thick hand cream, mind you this did mean that a little did go a long way and it spread over my skin really easily. The handcream was absorbed pretty quickly although not instantly, the lovely smell of coconut being very strong and long lasting.

Now that the cream is on my hands how did it measure up? Not well at all I'm afraid. When my hands are sore and slightly chapped which happens fairly often the cream actually made my hands sting and feel more sore. When my hands were in better shape the cream did not seem to moisturise them much at all and I needed to apply several coats over the course of a day but it had very little effect at all.

The worst part of the hand cream was the taste, just to reassure you all I am not in the habit of eating my beauty products but this cream seemed to rub off really easily onto cups and food I was handling leaving a nasty bitter taste in my mouth, even though I have tried dozens of different brands of hand cream over the years this is a problem that seems unique to this brand as I have never had it happen before.

This hand cream was a real let down it was so thin that it had no effect, it was so bad that 2/3 of the tube is about to go in the bin despite the fact I hate wasting things.
