I do love my beauty items and toiletries, and in particular have a real soft spot for Yves Rocher products as anyone who reads my reviews will no doubt be aware of. Even though I only get to buy directly from them 3 or 4 times a year (due to lack of funds!) I always save a little extra and have a big splurge around November time as this is when they introduce their Winter and Christmas collections.
One such item I purchased a few weeks ago is this hand cream entitled 'Marvelous Fruit' which my review will now focus on..
As usual all Yves Rocher products can be purchased via their website @www.yves-rocher.co.uk, by phoning 0870 049 22 22, popping into one of their stores, or one of my favourite ways of picking up bargains is by checking out Ebay.
This hand cream is part of Yves Rocher's Christmas collection which differs every year and tends to have a theme revolving around the festive season. This year the majority of the Christmas collection is based around 'marvelous fruit' which is a spiced mandarin scented range and smells simply wonderful.
The hand cream is presented in a slim line 75 ml sized tube which can be stored upright standing on it's base if one so wishes. The appearance of the tube is very festive, being a predominantly cream background with a glossy gold sketch of a tree and iridescent butterflies and leaves. There is then a contrasting deep orange colour the lid and of surprisingly enough orange fruits on said tree which sparkles in certain lights, it really is very pretty and aesthetically pleasing for *just* a hand cream.
To access the cream there is a flip open lid which as mentioned is placed at the base of the tube and though YR products tend to have difficult to open lids, this seems to be an exception as there is a small indent to help pries it open. It also closes securely with a satisfying 'click' and up to press I have had no spills or leaks from the packaging.
My thoughts on using the cream?
I go through a heck of a lot of hand creams as when I'm cleaning at home or washing up I don't tend to wear rubber gloves, and because of this I try to counteract any potential drying of my hands by slathering a hand cream on them as often as required or if convenient. I also carry a small hand cream in my bag at all times for when I'm out and about and I look for creams that come in compact packaging as the bag I use the majority of the time is relatively small.
On opening the lid of Marvelous Fruits for the first time I was met with a rich and spicy orange aroma that just summed up Christmas. The cream itself is a bright white in colour, whilst the consistency is average and the texture has that same generic hand cream feel to it.
I found a pea sized blob seems to be enough to suffice for each hand and on applying the cream it melted into my skin straight away. I don't like hand creams that I have to spend ages rubbing in to my skin and I was pleased that this certainly isn't one of those especially when using when I'm out and on the go.
The cream literally melts into my hands and I can tell it's penetrated the upper layer of the skin and not just sat on top like some creams can do. There is no greasy residue or tacky feeling after using and my hands instantly feel softer and smoother.
Would I recommend this cream?
I really love the fact this is a festive hand cream and not only has the Christmas themed packaging but the scent to match. I've bought 'Christmas' hand creams in the past from elsewhere and have been disappointed that it's just the tube that is festive whilst the product has remained the same, but this really is pure Christmas!
I have nothing negative to say about this product as it does everything required from a hand cream - it moisturises and hydrates, it soothes already dry skin, doesn't cause any soreness or rashes, doesn't leave a sticky/ greasy residue and also leaves my hands with a beautiful spicy orange aroma.
Though the orange scent does smell quite strong when emitting from the tube, the actual scent that remains on my hands in soft and delicate and lingers for quite a while so if you have any concerns about smelling like a spicy satsuma let me lay those worries to rest right now!
For once the price is £1.90 (75ml) which for Yves Rocher is a nice and affordable price and because only a small amount is needed each time it's looking likely to last me quite a while making it a treat and an economical purchase at the same time.
A fantastic hand cream that delivers on it's word of hydrating, whilst leaving hands delicately scented with a rich Christmas themed aroma.
