Advantages: Cheap, sturdy, easy to store away

Disadvantages: None for me

A small step ladder may not seem a necessity to some people, but when you are as short as I am, you will be surprised at how much am item like this is used! Sometimes, getting things out of the top of cupboards can involve a bit of a climbing expedition for me so my partner brought me a little cheap stepladder from Argos as he thought it would be safer than watching me climb onto my kitchen units in order to reach things.

I am not great with heights so I don't tend to climb far anyway so all that was needed within our household was a little two step ladder. They had one of these in Argos which cost us £24.99 which I thought was good value for money.

Although quite cheap, this doesn't feel lightweight and flimsy as you might expect. In fact it feels quite safe and sturdy which was the most important thing to me as if it didn't feel safe, there was no point in us purchasing it and I may as well have kept on climbing on top of units. I needn't have worried though and I feel completely secure when using this step stool.

The step stool has a sturdy steel frame with two well sized steps which have a black non-slip tread for extra security. It also has safety catches for added security too. The stool has two legs at the front with rubber stoppers on the end and a joined leg at the back of the stool. The legs aren't particularly large, but are quite wide apart which makes the stool quite sturdy.

Not many people want an item like this taking up space in their home, so I was pleased to see that it folds together easily and fits easily into our storage cupboard in the kitchen so it isn't on show all the time and can be easily transported throughout the house when needed as it is quite lightweight and compact to carry.

For information, the dimensions of the stool are 96.8cmH x 48.2cmW x 10.8cmD and has a maximum weight limit of 150kg. It only weighs 4.8kg and complies to European Standard EN14183 for those of you who may be interested in the technical specification.

The item shouldn't need cleaning that often as it isn't an item that is used on a regular basis. However, if cleaning is needed, just a simple wipe down is sufficient enough due to the material it is made from so you won't need much in the way of elbow grease to get it looking clean and sparkly again. This step stool is exclusive to Argos stores as it is from the Argos own range.

Overall, this may seem quite a boring product to review, but it has proven to be a godsend in my house. I can now safely reach the top shelves of our kitchen cupboards as well as the tops of other items upstairs such as wardrobes which before I couldn't, well not safely anyway. I personally haven't found a single problem or gripe with this step stool and for that reason, this comes with a high recommendation from me.

Summary: A good little stepstool from Argos
