Estwing are an American company which manufacture "striking tools". They mainly make hammers, but also axes and crow bars. They were founded in Rockford, Illinois back in 1923.

Obviously this is a claw hammer, and it weighs 20 ounces.
The hammer part is made from a very strong and high quality steel, with a liquid vinyl handle which makes for a good grip. My hammer has a green vinyl coating although current models appear to be a bright blue. It also has the Estwing logo near the end of the hammer. There is a warning on the handle advising the user to "WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES" but I doubt anyone has ever paid heed to that notice, even workmen after the creation of the Health and Safety at Work Act in 1974.
This hammer is used for both hammering in nails, and for removing them with the claw end and due to the balanced weight distribution it makes for a very effective tool.
As you can see from my photo, with it covered in paint, it has been well used and will continue to be until I die or a tradesman nicks it. Whichever comes first...
This would also be effective for protection in case of a zombie apocalypse. I advise using the claw end to get through the skull and take out the zombie in one swing. This advice could save your life, ALWAYS go for the brain!!!
The Estwing E3/20C is currently available on the Estwing site at £25.37 plus VAT and delivery. Considering I've had this for many years, that is still quite a high price.
It is also available at Amazon.co.uk for £31.34 and is eligible for Prime free delivery.
