Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool
Advantages: An excellent way to use up free bin space
Disadvantages: A waste of time, money and effort all round!
I have to admit now, I bought the Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool for a laugh.
I don't usually buy random household tools for a laugh but there's a YouTube channel called Ashens who does comedy reviews on utter tat and he had given it a less than glowing review. When I saw this in Pound World actually REDUCED to 50p I thought I'd buy it as a joke Valentine's gift for my husband before I gave him the real pressie!
The Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool is a little hand held tool which ostensibly is for getting into packets. You know, the type of moulded plastic that makes you want to kill. Usually you'd reach for the scissors but reach no more (well, you'll still need to actually, because this is terrible!)
The best way I can describe it is like a tippex mouse (remember those? they were plastic cases which dispensed tippex tape for use with typewriters). It is a little white case which feels very flimsy and thin, and it has a number of 'handy' tools (my usage review follows their description..)
The flimsy metal screwdriver - it's flimsy, it's metal and it's a screwdriver. Sometimes you get toys with battery compartments with a tiny screw, well, this screwdriver will fit 20% of these and even then it's flipping impossible to turn the Packbuster without a groaning plastic sound which would turn into a breaking cracking plastic sound and a very broken Packbuster should I keep trying to get the flipping screw out. It's retractable but you'll only retract it once.. you won't want to use it again.
The rusty - cutty - rather dangerous blade - thing is a blade which is pushed away from you (safety first!) to cut plastic. It will cut very thin plastic, if you push with the force of the Incredible Hulk and make a sound like Martina Navratilova, but worryingly mine was rusty when I opened the packbuster packet (an easy open packet thank goodness!!) and looks suspiciously like it might fall off.
The snippy thing - a very small blade which works scissors style against another which is built into the side of the Packbuster. Sort of like scissors, but blunt and really hard to use. Basically you might as well use scissors.
Overall the Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool wasn't even worth the 50p I paid for it, it provided some initial amusement and now it's sitting in the bottom of a drawer (shortly to be moved to the bottom of the kitchen bin.)
Basically if you have some packaging that is stronger than tissue paper then the Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool will crumple and break in your very hands. It's an absolutely pointless and terrible tool which even the Pound Shop couldn't shift for a quid - that tells you everything!
If you need a little screwdriver, buy a mini screwdriver keyring from Poundland, they are great. If you need a pair of scissors... use a pair of scissors. If you need a knife... well you get the idea. The Packbuster Pack-Opening Multitool doesn't open packs and isn't a multi tool. It's utter pants and one star out of five is a great compliment to it!
