Top quality with a high vis bonus

I treated myself to this Podger back in November. The main selling point for me was the orange high visibility powder coated finish. I already had two of these (a main and a back up) but they are very dark grey/black in colour and are not easy to find during the dark winter months if you put them down outside. The high vis finish also makes it far easier to use the podger end to line up holes in poor light conditions.

Priory make top quality scaffolding tool s and this reversible ratcheting spanner with podger is no exception. It has 19mm fitting on one side and 21mm on the other. There is also a whole so you can attach it to a lanyard but I prefer to stick it in my tool belt along with my scaff hammer. Although the lanyard option is used while working at height (doing scaffolding as opposed to stage building on the ground). The lever to reverse the drive of the ratchet is nice and chunky and easy to feel and switch even while wearing gloves. The ratchet has a smooth , powerful drive and makes easy work of most bolts and scaffolding clamps. The spike on the podger end isn't overly sharp so unlike some won't stab holes in your tool bag. The whole thing is made from high quality steel and feels incredibly solid in your hand and doesn't give at all while using it as a podger. The overall length is around 12'' which affords plenty of leverage for aligning holes or shifting the most stubborn of rusty bolts. There is also a small hole above the socket box for lubricant to keep your ratchet running smoothly. I add some wd40 around once a fortnight and do so with my other podgers. My oldest version of this podger is nearly 13 years old and still works well treating it this way.

Priory are the premier company when it comes to specialist scaffolding tools and this tool shows why.
