I am one of the most organised people I know and although we have a general tool box in the garage at home, I also have a little tool box of my own full of handy little bits and bobs. One item I added to my little tool box around 6 months ago was a tape measure as we have done, and are continuing to do, a lot of work on our home and I was sick of never being able to find a tape measure anywhere.

Our local hardware store is B&Q and this is where I got my Rolson Tape Measure from. I purchased a 5 metre tape measure for no particular reason and I knew this would be sufficient as I was very unlikely to have to measure anything over this size.

The tape measure has a solid plastic casing with rubber outer cover and the measure itself is metal so really hard wearing and sturdy. The measure is yellow and measures centimetres/metres on the bottom of the measure and feet and inches on the top part so you can use whichever measurement you wish. As said, the rule goes up to 5 metre which equates to 16 feet which is more than ample.

You can get a cheap and cheerful tape measure for around £1.00, but I decided to go for this one at £2.50 as it really did look far sturdier than the others I could have chosen from. This one also had a belt clip, carry strap and a thumb operated lock system which locks the rule part in place so you don't lose your measurement. When you release the lock, the rule draws itself back into the casing and it does go at quite a speed so beware your hands aren't in the way at the time as the side of the rule did cut my hand (not badly!), when feeding back into the casing the first time I used it!

This is quite a big, bulky tape measure in comparison to others I have had in the past but it is the best quality tape measure I have had. The casing is still thoroughly intact and doesn't show any sign of wear and tear or damage and you know that your £2.50 will be well worth it as this is a tape measure that really will last you for years.

Overall, this is a really decent quality tape measure and I am glad I spent the extra few pennies purchasing this one as cheaper ones break easily and I know I am certainly going to be getting good value for money out of this one. It gives measurements in both inches and centimetres which is handy and is really easy to use. It has a couple of useful features on it too. In summary, there is nothing bad I can say about this tape measure and so it comes with a recommendation from me.
