River Island Oversized Cross Body Bag
I have to confess at this point my favourite handbag is my Radley cross over bag, but at paying £100, its not a bag I feel that I can use every day so needed an in between bag.
Then my birthday, and a large box, I wondered what she ... had done, inside was shredded tissue, then I noticed a River Island carrier bag, she'd brought me the same bag. The receipt was in the bag and it was priced at £25.
=Material=
The bag is not a leather bag, it is made from 100% polyurethane, but unless you look really closely I don't think you would notice that it was not leather.
=Design=
On the front of the bag is a Shiny silver River island badge, it is not too big, but to me I wouldn't have put a badge on the bag, as it is not a designer bag, but that is just me being me.
The bag also has some studs, a couple of tassels and the zips are a bright silver colour.
My thoughts on the bag, whilst I do like the style, I just feel that the design could be outdated in the next season, I feel that this is due to the tassels and the studs feature, although at the moment, I'm happy with it.
=Measurements=
The bag is 14in (35cm) in height, and 13 1/2in (34cm) approx measurements, so it is a very roomy bag.
=Style=
The bag is a cross body style and has a long carry strap with adjustable holes so that you can fit the bag to your personal taste.
=Compartments=
The bag has seperate zipped compartments, which means that you can put different items in the pockets. There is a zipped compartment on the front of the bag, and whilst this is an ideal size for storing a mobile phone, for me, I always carry sanitizer as you never know what you come across/
=Inside Compartments=
There is a zipped compartment inside the bag and I tend to use this for my mobile phone, so it is easy to find, and feels more secure than being on the outside pockets.
=What can I fit in=
This bag feels like a tardis, whether that is because I am a typical woman who carries everything but the kitchen sink
Purse, make Up, Phone, fold up shopping bags, keys, little change purse, tissues, medication, notebook, pen, sewing kit, plaster, bottle of water.
=My verdict=
I know I have been a bit picky in places, but I feel a review needs to be as you the individual find the product, but bar my little niggles, I do really like the bag it fits everything in, although would I pay £25, when I could a leather bag from Next for that? That almost feels like the million dollar question. For comfort it is a 10/10, secure fastening, 10/10. design 7/10, price 6/10.
The question I had to ask myself was if I was buying this bag would I be prepared to pay £25 for it and to be honest the answer is no. I have seen similar cross over bags for under £10, which I am sure would do the trick.
=Would I recommend=
I'm a sit on the fence with this one, while it has plenty of plus points, it also has some negatives, so I would really say its an individual choice. Read the complete review |

Radley Pocket Medium Leather Crossbody Bag
by scooch12
I have to admit, I'm a sucker for bags. I am known as the obsessed bag lady in our family and if anyone struggles to think of Christmas or birthday presents, they know I'll always be happy with a bag. I like a range of bags - they're not always expensive brands, I own lots from the supermarket and cheaper clothing stores, but like many, ... I do have a soft spot for Radley bags and purses too.
I have a big collection of bags, my view is you can never have too many. I decided to ask my husband to get me a radley crossover bag last year though because in my collection, I couldn't actually find any that were suitable to sit nicely across the body and didn't need lugging over my shoulder or holding in my hand. So, he took me out shopping and I chose a black medium sized radley crossover bag from the local radley outlet store. It cost £54.95, which I think was reasonable, considering the medium sized crossover bags on radley's website sell for £89 at the moment. They make this model in lots of other colours too, the ones I saw at the radley outlet were berry, beige, a darkish green and a deep purple - the berry one is very nice, but I wasn't too sure if it would go with many things in the summertime as it's more of a wintery colour. Like most of my bags, the trusted black one would match most of my outfits throughout the year and goes with most of my shoes and purses too.
The smallest one that they have in the same range looked very small and to me like it wouldn't fit much in. The medium sized one isn't that much bigger, but it fits my daily essentials - my phone, keys, small purse and a small toy for my daughter. The only issue I have is that my usual purse is big, long and chunky especially when full and I struggle to fit much else into the bag when I use that - it will only just close at a push. I am still glad I chose the medium sized bag though because although I wanted a functional bag to use, I didn't want it looking huge and feeling bulky when I was out and about. The larger one available looked like it would be bulky when full when I tried it on.
The bag is made of real leather and measures 27cm x 22cm, the leather is quite soft. I'm not sure on the depth as it comes very flat but bulges out when you fill it up - without items in it feels very light to pick up. It features the usual tag of a dog, on mine the tag is a light green colour and is conveniently placed so it can be tucked in the front pocket because sometimes it bobs around a lot and starts to annoy me. The front pocket on the bag is the size of about 2/3 of the bag and I find this very useful - I'm always shoving things in there for quick access although there isn't any fastening to that part of the bag so I wouldn't put anything of any value in it. just my lip balm.
There's a zip fastening on the main part of the bag so it feels quite secure, the zip has a little star on it that matches the colour of the radley dog tag. Inside the bag, there is a material lining that matches the colour of the tag too. The lining is nice and soft although I sometimes find little bits cling to it. There is also a zip pocket inside the bag that I use to hold my keys in so I don't have to rummage through the bag looking for them, it's not very big though. There's another zip pocket at the back of the bag too.
The bag has an extendable strap that can be adjusted so that you can fit it to wherever is comfortable across body.
All in all, I recommend this bag at the price tag my husband paid. It's so handy when I'm with my daughter and need my hands free to push the pram. I'm not sure though if I'd have paid much more for it - I do think with radley, however nice their products are, you pay a premium for that famous little dog attached to the item.
