River Island Cream Metal Corner Clutch Bag
by pink_glitter
I recently bought two pairs of shoes both in a nude/beige type of colour and then realised that most of my 'going out bags' were either black or brown so didn't match. I looked around online for something which was a similar colour to my shoes and found this cream metal corner clutch bag from River Island.
Although I had a ... voucher code for free delivery, I decided to go into the store and take a look at this bag before purchasing, because in the past I've found some things on the River Island website have looked totally different in 'real life' to how they do online. Once satisfied that I liked the bag, I took it to the till where my husband offered to pay for it - bonus! On that subject, the price of this bag is a very reasonable £15. I would normally expect to pay slightly more than this for something from River Island so I do feel I got a bit of a bargain.
Onto the bag, and firstly I should discuss the colour. Although it is called cream on the website, its actually more a nude colour, with a hint of a pinky-beige tone than it is cream, in my opinion. It's unusual as in some lights it also looks a tiny bit yellowish. The metal corners, clasp and River Island branded plate on the back are all silver. I should note that a red, blue and black version of this back are also available.
One thing I liked about this bag is that it has a short silver chain strap, which can be hidden inside the bag. This not only makes the bag more versatile in terms of looks, but I find it very handy as sometimes with clutch bags I find you have to wedge them under your armpit or chin - especially if you are carrying several drinks from a bar. The chain means it can be used as a shoulder bag, or sometimes I pull the chain across to one side and fasten the bag, which turns it into a wrist strap. The chain is held on with clips, so can be completely removed if you prefer, but I simply tuck it inside.
The bag itself is a sort of faux leather look. It's hard to describe but it has a matte, almost weather beaten kind of finish to it. I like the texture of the bag it's soft, yet holds its shape so is not floppy at all.
The bag measures 20cm x 16cm. It is completely flat, yet I still find that I can fit quite a lot into it. Last time it was used it held a small can of body spray, a lip gloss, my phone, keys and purse and by the end of the night also a cheap bracelet which was itching my wrist! I should note that there is an inside zip pocket which is quite roomy.
I would say I've probably had this bag around two months now and I have gotten a lot of use from it, especially as I took it on holiday and was using it virtually every night. It's impossible to judge how long it will last, but it seems to be holding up quite well and it seems fairly well made for such a cheap item. The silver corners, clasp, name plate and chain are all still as shiny as when I bought them with no sign of tarnish.
On the whole I really like this bag and hope to get a lot more use from it. I think the best thing is simply that it goes with everything, being such a neutral colour and design. It was the only 'going out' bag I took on holiday as it was the only one I felt I needed as it looked equally good with a dress or jeans. I think this has been a huge bargain already and I would definitely recommend it. Read the complete review |

Teatro Satin Clutch Bag
by Telss
I recently went to the York Races. It was considered a posh do! I bought a really beautiful dress and I needed a clutch bag to go with it. I didnt want to spend too much money because I dont often dress up and need clutch. I am glad I bought one though, this one is perfect! Im really glad I bought it because now Ive got one for future ... events or nights out. And because this clutch bag is black, it pretty much goes with everything.
So I looked around on the internet for one and I discovered this one on Littlewoods.com. Now if you've shopped with Littlewoods before you will know there prices are usually higher than high street prices. Surprisingly this was £15. Which for Littlewoods is cheap. I was expecting to pay around the £12-£17 price! I had bought a clutch bag before for £12 but I now don't like it and its grey! Which wouldn't have gone with my outfit.
Of course buying this off of the internet, you never know quite what to expect, for example, the quality and size. I saw the dimentions on the website but you still just never know exactly how it's going to look. I was extremely happy when it came. It was even nicer than I expected. It didn't look cheap. The fabric and look of it was elegent. And the size was absolutely perfect. Not too big or too small. Good size to hold in your hand all day. The size was H 26, W 10.5, D 5 cm. And its made out of 95% polyester, 5% elastane.
I've never head of the brand 'Teatro'. But so far I am pleased with this item.
You cant see very well on the picture but this bag has pleats in it that head towards the bottom corner. This bag also closes with 2 magnetic buttons things (I've forgotten what there called). It also comes with a thin chain that attaches to the inside of the bag so you have a little chain that can go over our shoulder.
I think this bag is great value for money and I would 100% recommend. I can't think of anything bad to say about this bag :) Read the complete review |

Asos Squiggle Toggle Clutch
by zombieflesh
Like most girls I love clothes, and I just can't seem to stop myself from placing regular orders with online super-retailer www.ASOS.com. I came across this bag through one of ASOS's style guide emails and decided to wait a little for it to go in the sales before I made my purchase! This Squiggle Toggle Clutch is part of the ASOS ... Collection and had the original RRP of £25.00. I bought it at a reduced price of £17.50 (which I thought was good at the time!) and now it's been even further reduced to just £7.50.
Product description: "Featuring a half-moon main, with zip top closure, contrast pocket to the front with toggle fastening, and silver-tone detailing, in a sports style."
Thanks to the huge buzz around the Olympics in London this year, a lot of the summer fashions have been taking inspiration from this event and adding a modern, sporty edge to daywear and evening outfits. As well as being a big fan of the "sports luxe" look, I like some of the colour combinations that are popular within this style, my favourite being monochrome shades like black, white or grey, teamed with a bright pop of neon colour. I really like the overall style of this bag as it does have a sporty look to it and the design is quite clean and simple looking. It has a white coloured main section with a bright yellow front pocket, and details are picked out in black such as the zip across the top of the bag, and the toggle across the front pocket.
The bag is a clutch, and it has no handle or strap to carry it with. It's somewhat larger than most clutch bags, and is very roomy inside. I've used this during the day and there is plenty of room to fit all my bits and pieces for going to town during the day, including my purse, sunglasses, keys, make-up and even a mini umbrella. The main problem is that even though the bag is nice and spacious inside, there is no structure to the shape of the bag and it does not hold its form properly. Because there is no handle, there are two ways that I might carry this bag. If I haven't crammed too much stuff inside the bag and it's still considerably light to carry, I'll pinch the top section by the zip between my fingers and thumb and let it dangle down beside me. If there's more inside for me to carry and it's getting a bit heavy, I will scoop it up into the palm of my hand and rest it against my hip to balance it and give a better hold. Neither of these methods look particularly dainty! The shape of the bag is a bit too bulky to be neatly tucked underneath my arm as I might do with an evening clutch bag. It would be much easier to carry if the shape was slightly different, or if the body of the bag had a proper structure to it so that there was a proper section to grip onto and get a good secure hold of the bag. As it is, I juggle the bag around a lot when I'm out and about carrying it, and it can become awkward if I'm holding other things and then trying to balance the bag while I open it to get my purse out or something similar.
On the outside, the yellow front section is a wide pocket which is secured by a toggle closure. This really does not seem safe enough for my liking, and there is not very much room to put anything inside. I have never actually used this pocket as I was too worried about having things drop out of it and losing them, so I just enjoy the coloured pocket as a decorative feature. On the inside, there are two open pocket sections at the front which are big enough to hold my mobile phone and my travel cards neatly, which makes them easily accessible. The main section of the bag is spacious, and the full length zip allows for the mouth of the bag to open up fully so that you can put things in without having to manoeuvre it into the right position.
The bag is made of a faux leather material, and considering that it is a bright white colour it has done the incredible job of not getting marked of scuffed while I've been using it! I was a bit dubious about the white material as I thought it would easily show up any little marks or damage through general usage, but it is still in good condition now, over 4 months since I first bought it. On the negative side, I have found that because the bag is a clutch design, holding this faux leather fabric directly in my hand for long(ish) periods of time can cause my hand to get really clammy - eww! This is especially true during the spells of hot, sunny weather we've been having on and off. This is not a nice feeling but can't really be avoided. It's a little annoying as I think it's a summery looking bag that suits being used during the day, and I can find it quite uncomfortable to be holding the clutch in my sweaty icky hand when I'm out and about.
Overall, I'm not 100% sure about the Squiggle Toggle Clutch bag. I think it looks great and I love the style and the colours. It's also good for holding a decent amount of stuff and it's a nice, neat alternative to having to carry around an oversized handbag when something more compact like this suits the occasion. However, the flexible shape of the bag and the lack of handle makes it difficult to hold onto securely and it is often quite impractical and difficult to use. I would say it's worth the current heavily reduced price, but it's not something that I can use frequently and I have to really consider where I'm going and exactly what I'm doing before I decide to use this bag.
