River Island Oversized Cross Body Bag
I have to confess at this point my favourite handbag is my Radley cross over bag, but at paying £100, its not a bag I feel that I can use every day so needed an in between bag.
Then my birthday, and a large box, I wondered what she ... had done, inside was shredded tissue, then I noticed a River Island carrier bag, she'd brought me the same bag. The receipt was in the bag and it was priced at £25.
=Material=
The bag is not a leather bag, it is made from 100% polyurethane, but unless you look really closely I don't think you would notice that it was not leather.
=Design=
On the front of the bag is a Shiny silver River island badge, it is not too big, but to me I wouldn't have put a badge on the bag, as it is not a designer bag, but that is just me being me.
The bag also has some studs, a couple of tassels and the zips are a bright silver colour.
My thoughts on the bag, whilst I do like the style, I just feel that the design could be outdated in the next season, I feel that this is due to the tassels and the studs feature, although at the moment, I'm happy with it.
=Measurements=
The bag is 14in (35cm) in height, and 13 1/2in (34cm) approx measurements, so it is a very roomy bag.
=Style=
The bag is a cross body style and has a long carry strap with adjustable holes so that you can fit the bag to your personal taste.
=Compartments=
The bag has seperate zipped compartments, which means that you can put different items in the pockets. There is a zipped compartment on the front of the bag, and whilst this is an ideal size for storing a mobile phone, for me, I always carry sanitizer as you never know what you come across/
=Inside Compartments=
There is a zipped compartment inside the bag and I tend to use this for my mobile phone, so it is easy to find, and feels more secure than being on the outside pockets.
=What can I fit in=
This bag feels like a tardis, whether that is because I am a typical woman who carries everything but the kitchen sink
Purse, make Up, Phone, fold up shopping bags, keys, little change purse, tissues, medication, notebook, pen, sewing kit, plaster, bottle of water.
=My verdict=
I know I have been a bit picky in places, but I feel a review needs to be as you the individual find the product, but bar my little niggles, I do really like the bag it fits everything in, although would I pay £25, when I could a leather bag from Next for that? That almost feels like the million dollar question. For comfort it is a 10/10, secure fastening, 10/10. design 7/10, price 6/10.
The question I had to ask myself was if I was buying this bag would I be prepared to pay £25 for it and to be honest the answer is no. I have seen similar cross over bags for under £10, which I am sure would do the trick.
=Would I recommend=
I'm a sit on the fence with this one, while it has plenty of plus points, it also has some negatives, so I would really say its an individual choice. Read the complete review |

Gigi Long Strap Cross-Body Bag
by ladyradley
I like a nice bag and this is one was bought for me by my daughter. I usually have Radley bags but she bought this Gigi one for me as a change. It is very similar to one of my Radley bags and I really like it. I hadn't heard of this brand before but the design of it is lovely and it is a very good quality bag.
The bag that I ... have is a different colour to the one in the picture, mine is a dark brown colour, a bit like chocolate, it's nice and rich and looks really nice with many outfits and I must say it makes a nice change to have something that isn't black like I usually stick to.
It has a little slip pocket at the front which I think is meant for a mobile phone so you can get to it quickly if it rings but I find it a bit too 'open' and worry that it's a bit of a security risk with it not being zipped in or maybe it would manage to fall out or something so I keep my phone inside the zipped section and instead find that I put my shopping lists and things in this little section. Anyway, it is very useful to have a quick access pocket.
Inside is the main compartment there is a zipped pocket, this is where I keep my valuables, they feel safer here than in the main compartment and easier to get to. This is big enough for my purse, phone and keys. There is also a section inside the bag to put pens, a phone and even a section which I think is meant for credit cards. It is a very practical bag in terms of it's lay out although I never really use the pockets for what they're meant for!
It isn't a huge bag, but an average size for a cross the shoulder bag and is quite square but I think that it looks good and it isn't too big that it makes it look bulky or that it'd be too heavy to wear.
It is a good length but you can adjust the strap to make it the length that you want to wear it at. I find it really practical. It's really good to have it over my shoulder, it doesn't hurt my back or anything.
It came with a little cotton bag over it to protect it and so far I've used this regularly and it is in very good condition. It is very practical and I can tell it's of a good quality so I'm really pleased with this! Read the complete review |
