Avon Country Rose Bag
by brady58
I am always being inundated with avon catalogues from friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues who all seem to have decided that avon is a good way to make money. I try to buy something from each of them to show my support but I have literally too many people in my life doing it that I usually can only afford something small. ...
I got the Country Rose bag as I was looking for something small to order from one of the catalogues and this was cheap and I actually liked the look of it and I had enough make-up and skin care products at the time so this seemed ideal.
When it arrived I was really pleased with it and I actually do use it quite often though not so much lately as it is more of a spring and summer bag than a winter one especially when it rains.
The bag is a cotton shopper bag and the only thing that differentiates it from the hundreds of others is that it has a particularly lovely pattern on it. I really like Kath Kidston and this is very similar in pattern to some of those as it has a lovely retro look to it that looks a little old fashioned but done in a modern way.
The pattern is made up of loads of different coloured polka dots and this effect is really striking but although the colours are bright they aren't too brassy and brash. The whole effect is just really sweet looking and cute.
The bag isn't huge but it is big enough to go to the supermarket and get a few groceries in it. You wouldn't be able to use this to get your weekly shop in but as something to put a few eggs and bread in it is fine. The handles feel sturdy and are well stitched together so it doesn't feel like they will snap but I still wouldn't put too much in it just in case.
This is just a sweet little shopper bag that looks a lot nicer than the ones available in the supermarket. The pattern is really sweet and it is practical enough for a few groceries at a time and it looks nice when I am carrying it. I think this was only about £5 which seems about right for this bag as although it is only cotton it is really nice and well made. Read the complete review |

Avon Country Rose Bag
by purplekimmy
No woman can have too many bags as far as I am concerned and I have decided to never use another carrier bag again. Instead I use canvas bags or bags for life. It is not only because I want to save the planet a little but also because carrier bags are rubbish at holdoing any weight and these are not.
I saw this bag in the Avon ... catalogue and decided to buy a couple as I was after sturdy bags for shopping. The design of the bag is great, polka dots are cheerful and happy, the background colour is a creamy shade which shows off the bright circles nicely. The bag is made from a canvas which seems to be very strong and has held up very well to the amounts of weight I regularly put in it. The handles are quite short for my liking, you can just get the bag over your shoulder, but it's not happy to sit there and holding it in your hand it's a bit too long. It is more a arm bag like the lady in the picture which depending on the weight inside isn't always comfortable.
The handles are roughly 45cms and the bag as a whole is a nice 36cm x 39cm x 11cm size. I only use these bags for shopping so doing the bag up isn't an issue. If you were to use this as an everyday bag, I would feel my items are a bit too much on show with no popper or zip as security.
Overall the bag is great, it has been subjected to much use and hasn't frayed or split in any seams. The bottom of the bag is prone to wear and tear but even so it is still in good condition. It has become a little grubby, I have not put it in the washing machine but I have hand washed it though and it still performs nicely. A good sturdy, reliable bag which is great and pretty at the same time. Read the complete review |

RNLI Jute Shopper

WHAT IS IT?
A jute shipping bag from the RNLI. They sell it as part of their stock to raise funds for the cause and the large RNLI branding raises awareness.
THE DESIGN
It is very nautical looking because the main logo looks like waves and is in a seaside pale blue, the side panels and bottom of the bag ... are a matching blue. The handles are thick loops and the right length for carrying over your forearm or on your shoulder. The bag measures 12 inches x 12 inches and it opens out so you can carry bulky items.
WHAT I THINK
My husband bought this bag when we were on holiday because he was heavily into fundraising for them when he lived on the coast and likes to support them when possible. We used it during our holiday and now I use it as a shopping bag or to transport my baby daughters things when we go out for the day.
The bag is strong and holds heavy loads, because it is big I am careful not to overfill it in the supermarket so I can carry it comfortably. It does not sag when it is heavy and opens out widely so you can put tins or vegetables in it without having to stretch the sides of the bag, that's what I don't like about soft canvas shopping bags and prefer ones like this with proper structure. The handles feel like they are strongly attached to the bag and also are strong in themselves.
I like the design very much because it is brighter than the other jute bags I use, the logo is large but not brash so I don't mind it even though I usually like small and discreet logos on my bags. It doesn't fold well so I keep it in the boot of my car now, the longer handled canvas bags scrunch up so those are kept in the house. This RNLI bag is precisely for shopping and isn't much use for anything else apart from when I use it for my daughters things, my husband is happy with his purchase and also uses it when he does the shopping.
ANYTHING ELSE?
The RNLI shopping bag costs £3.50 and you can buy it in any of their shops or from www.rnlishop.org
