The concept is a good one which is to promote lesser use of plastic bags and to use this instead when shopping. However, i doubt that people actually use this for grocery shopping because they would rather use it as handbag. This does lead me to wonder if this lead to a greater wastage of resources. There are imitation bags out there of it (more production of the bag) but people are generally buying it for use for anything except grocery shopping. More grocery bags have to be produced because this series was not used for grocery shopping. I supposed that there are better ways to make a statement than this. This 'I'm not a plastic bag' has been around since the beginning of the year 2007 and was designed by Anya Hindmarch in China. It was mainly introduced in the global markets of fashion to try and save the environment from all the billions of plastic bags that were being manufactured and used every year (Britain uses around 10bn plastic bags each year). I should admit that when the bags came out they did not attract me at all, not because I don't like saving the environment (I love a clean environment) but because the bag looked more like a nappy bag than it did of food. Hats off to Anya Hindmarch PR and marketing team. They did a great job promoting this although not plastic, rather simple, and not quite stylish bag. I for one don't need such an addition to my wardrobe, i am sure. Yet people fight over it these last few days, after the official launching. There were reports of blood shed over it in some Asian markets (for example Taiwan). Come one, let's get serious for a moment. Anya Hindmarch is a great designer, and has some astonishing bags. But this $15 environmental bag, although cute, is not something so special, to stay in hot weather queuing for 2 days or more (like people in Hong Kong). What ... Read the complete review
