“ Brand: Asda / Type: Handbag „
I have recently had a sort out of the top compartment in my wardrobe and was delighted to find bags and other accessories I had completely forgotten I had, one of which was this blue flower handbag from George. I think I paid around £9 for this bag but I have just had a look at the website and they have now been reduced to £5.50. You can also get this bag in white and pink but I definitely prefer the blue one as it is a really pretty and bright shade of blue. Also I think this one looks the most like leather compared to the other colours.
The bag measures 9 inches tall (23cm) and 14 inches wide (36cm) and has a lovely double layered flower detail to the front just below the end of the right handle which you can take off it you prefer the bag to have a plainer look. There is an eye catching knot to the bottom of the handles which is unusual and I think just adds to the attractive and feminine look of the bag. I usually carry my bags on my shoulder and this bag is the perfect size for doing this. The bag is then kept in position by my arm over it which I like as it feels very secure this way.
It has ruching to the top edge which is stitched very tightly and gives the bag a nice shape and makes it look more rounded. Inside there is a small compartment for your mobile phone which I do use as I like to know where it is rather than scrabbling around the bottom of my bag for it. It also has a zipped pocket where I usually keep my purse or money for security. There are no pockets to the outside of the bag but I think that with the flower and the ruching there is enough going on without adding anything else. I have had many positive comments from friends who have asked me where I bought the bag from and were surprised when I told them where it was from. I find that this bag is plenty big enough to keep my umbrella, purse, mobile phone, and my notebook, pens and other bits and pieces. The handles feel very secure and I am sure that I could carry a lot more than this comfortably.
Since I have re-discovered this bag I have used it several times and am so glad that I decided to have this long overdue tidy of my wardrobe. I think this blue bag looks particularly good with my jeans as the blue colour compliments them. It is a pretty feminine bag with that bit of extra detail which makes it different from others and it does look far more expensive than the price I paid. In my opinion it was well worth £9 but if you can get it at £5.50 it really is a good buy and I would definitely recommend it.
I bought this handbag to replace the one I was using which was getting a bit tatty and starting to rip and tear under the weight of the stuff I was putting in it. Basically, I think when you put your handbag on the passenger seat in your car, and the seatbelt sensor goes off because the car thinks there's a person on the seat not wearing their belt, it's probably time to downsize to a more manageable sized handbag!
I was doing my weekly shop in Asda and stumbled across this bag in the clothing section. It caught my eye because of the colour, it's a lovely deep blue, and is very pretty looking because it has a flower attached to one of the handles. This just gives it a bit of interest, although it is detachable if you're not keen. The bag itself is the perfect size for what I was looking for. It fits in everything I need, but isn't so big that I'll find myself carrying a week's worth of paperwork and empty lunchboxes!
The bag cost £9 which is ideal because my limit on handbags is around £12. The only reason for this is that I find myself getting bored of them and replacing them on a regular basis. It looks like leather but obviously for this price it isn't real. The handles have a cute little crossover on them which is a nice touch, and after taking this handbag to work I had a few comments on how nice it was.
In terms of usage, there are a few things I look for in a handbag. One is that the handles are long enough to be able to carry the bag on my shoulders without having to hike it up all the time. These handles are just about long enough to do that, but they work better with a think jacket than a thicker coat. Sometimes, if it's raining and I've got my winter coat on (hopefully those days will be gone soon!), it's a tight fit getting the handbag over the coat.
The other thing I look for is compartments and pockets. This handbag has the usual zip pocket compartment inside, which most women use for feminine hygiene products. Other than that, it only has a mobile phone pocket which just about fits my Blackberry in. I don't tend to use these because I find the phone falls out or gets knocked, so I tend to keep mine in my coat pocket.
I would like the bag to have another compartment, maybe at the side of the bag, because I have a ticket for commuting and my fob for work which I like to have easy access to, but if I put them in the zip part I end up dragging out tampons alongside the item I'm after which can be quite embarrassing! However, I didn't check it thoroughly before buying it, I just liked the look of it and put it in my trolley so that's my own fault.
The bag is serving me well at the moment. It's big enough to carry my purse, a book I read on my commute to work, my phone (if I was to carry this in my bag), my glasses case, a notebook and a bunch of keys. There is still a bit of room left for a few more bits and bobs, but not enough to carry my lunch, so I have to carry that in a separate bag. This was intentional though, because my last bag was so big it used to hurt my shoulders sometimes because I stuffed it so full of rubbish.
Overall, I am very pleased with this handbag. I can even forgive the lack of pockets/secret compartments as it's stylish, practical, and didn't cost much.
