      nice messenger bag from bench

On days when I know I have lots of mummy errands to do like going to the post office, going to the bank and my usual grocery shopping I much prefer having an over the shoulder bag as I am generally not dressed to impressed and so using a nice fancy handbag just makes me look odd! I have quite a few from New Look and Aldo etc but on a more casual dressed down day my answer to this solution is using this basic over the shoulder bag by Bench.

I have quite a few over the shoulder bags but this one is really versatile and durable and holds all my tit bits with ease! It is quite stylish, and as it is from Bench which describe themselves as an "urban brand" I still feel just that little bit more trendy when I am using this bag as opposed to using a boring no named bag!

As a messenger bag it should be noted that this bag is actually quite smaller than it appears, with measurements of 21x25x9cm. I bought this bag off Ebay (on of my many purchases that website is so addictive!) and I expected it to be larger than it actually so this was a bit of a disappointment. However, under no allusion it will be fitting in my hardback book or an A4 pad of paper it can actually hold all my many trinkets I like to carry like a small umbrella and my rather large River Island purse, amongst my keys, tissues, creams, lip gloss etc. all the other essentials us girls can carry!

The design of the bag is simple, with an overflap which is sealed with a velcro strip to keep the bag closed. I have had this bag a few months now and so I have noticed the velcro has started to detach from the bag itself in the corners (I can only assume from where I roughly open the bag on many an occasion!) but nevertheless the velcro fastening itself has remained durable and so it still closes effectively and securely.

It is made of 100% polyester and is a material bag, so small word of warning it is not in the least bit waterproof! I had a bottle of water in mine which I didn't close properly and it leaked through so I was very annoyed to have a wet seat as well as wet contents of my bag! Also the material as it is polyester I have noticed on the rear has started to fade and the colour from my clothing has rubbed off onto the bag which generally is hitting against my body. To be honest I have experienced this with almost every bag I own so I am starting to expect this now! Maybe it is a sign I should stop wearing dark clothes? Hmm! lol!

Anyway, another big plus of this bag is the adjustable strap. I have numerous bags from New Look, Warehouse and Aldo similar to this style of a messenger bag (but leather!) which do not have adjustable straps which I find irritating as when the strap is too long, I find the bag hits against my thigh! I find I have quite a short torso so I prefer being able to make the bag strap the perfect length so the bag sits comfortably near my hip for easy access and is not as obstructive!

Overall, I think this is great multi-purpose bag which is easy to use, light to carry and has a trendy urban look to it. It is made of cheap material so you get what you pay for really, but nevertheless it's a nice bag! I was fortunate I think I bought it on Ebay from a second hand seller for less than a fiver with about £4 postage and packaging, but have seen it cheapest on Amazon.co.uk for £14.99.
