I have owned a couple of Lulu Guinness handbags over the years and absolutely adore the brand. Both of my handbags and my new purse have been of impeccable quality and ultimate style so when I saw this shopper tote I knew I had to have it.
A few months ago a colleague of mine fed me some statistics that stuck with me: on average a plastic bag is used for only 20 minutes but can take well over 200 years to degrade. I work in retail and I was frankly appalled by this and it got my thinking about how many times I've taken a plastic bag only to walk to the car with my shopping. I decided then and there to invest in a foldaway shopper tote which I bought from W H Smiths. It was useful for about a month but then started to fall apart so I knew I needed a new one.
I found this bag on the Lulu Guinness website and decided it would be a good investment as well as a stylish piece to add to my handbag. The design is really quite brilliant. The bag is a black nylon tote bag with patent black leather lips on either side. The tote folds away inside the lips with zip up together. I loved how simple it was to foldaway, no detachable parts which can potentially be lost and also that the tote looked so roomy.
When it came I was even more thrilled. The bag is really spacious, made from a great quality fabric and it also looks really nice. It folds away easily into these patent lips which are slim and slip easily into my handbag. I use it regularly and so far there have been no signs of visible wear.
Now the clincher with this is the price and for some it might seem extreme as you can pick up foldable totes for as little at one or two pounds. This tote costs £35.00 and because I ordered from Amazon I got it for £34.99 with free delivery. The bag came quickly and was really easy to start using straight away. The bag has since gone into the sale on the Lulu website and is now available for £24.50, though you would have to pay for delivery which I believe is around 3 or 4 pounds.
For some the price would definitely put then off but from my experience of using other totes I wanted something that would be good quality and long lasting, which this one is.
Overall, I love my foldaway shopper tote but perhaps it is a bit of an extravagance.
