I soon discovered when my daughter Lauren was a toddler that it was quite hard to keep control of her and keep my handbag on my shoulder when out and about. This lead me to buy myself an over the shoulder bag and since then, I have never looked back. The bag was brought from New Look and cost me £9.99 which I think is quite reasonable for a bag. Mine is tan which has a slightly distressed look to it but it is also available in white, stone, grey and black, so quite a good choice in colours. I can definitely tell from the feel of the bag that this is not really leather; it does have quite a plastic feel to it although for the price, I wasn't expecting anything else and the overall look of the bag is good. The metal accessories on the bag are gold in colour, this includes the loops on the strap, the twist lock to the front and the zips. I really like how long the strap can adjust to, when fully extended, its about as long as my 5 year old. I tend to adjust mine to about half way, this means it sits nicely on my hips and I can easily access my things once handed. I would say that the bag could also be used as a shoulder bag if needed because of how much I can reduce the strap by. When I first brought, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I could fit in it, despite actual bag only measuring around 10cm x 10cm, I was able to fit my purse, makeup, phone, packet of baby wipes, hand gel and cream and it was still easy to carry and didn't look like I had overfilled it. To the front of the bag there is a large pocket which is closed/opened with a twist lock, the lock itself is easy to open and close and again quite big in depth but it doesn't have the expanding ability that the main bag does. Just above this pocket is another small pocket which has a zip fastening, this is about the right size to store my mobile phone comfortably. The fact the there are lots of different pockets really appeals to me, as I can keep my bits and bobs separately (I used to hate rummaging around in the bottom of my bag for my car keys). I do like the fact that the main part of the bag has a zip on it as this gives me extra piece of mind when it comes to pick pockets etc. Because I chose the tan colour bag, it doesn't seem to show up dirt as much as other coloured bags I have had in the past, I have wiped it down a couple of times with a damp cloth just to keep it clean and it hasn't caused any issues with the material. I have had the bag for a few years now and it is still in excellent condition so overall, I would recommend the bag and give it 5 out of 5 stars. Thanks for reading.
I was in the market for a new bag last Christmas so showed my husband a few I like and he chose this one to buy me for Christmas. This long handled black bag was on sale at the time for about £12.00. This bag came in 2 colours black and brown. The bag was approximately 30cm long by 25cm wide with a long shoulder strap which could be adjusted. At its longest it would be down to my hip and its shortest it would be right under my armpit. This could be adjusted by a small silver sliding motion. I personally wore it on its longest setting as I liked to wear it across my body. The bag is a faux leather look made from 100% polyurethane. The bag has a zip along the top in to the main compartment. There is another zip is situated on the front of the bag into a small flat compartment. Below that zip is a material flap with a twist lock; this compartment is a reasonable size, more than half the size of the bag. I used the main compartment for my purse, tissues, make-up etc, inside there is a small zip compartment where I used to keep a small lip balm. I personally never used the smaller outer zip compartment as if there was anything in there it made the bag bulk. But the small lock compartment I used to keep my phone. I used this bag daily for 9 months and it was still in good condition with a well-used look about it. I decided to retire this bag and upgrade due to the style becoming slightly dated. I would recommend this bag for its durability however I do feel it's now dated and past its best.
I generally carry shoulder bags everywhere I go however I was recently going to a concert and decided that an over the body style bag would be easier to keep a hold of in a crowded place and would be more secure then my usual choice. I picked up this bag in New Look for £9.99. The colour is a good match for some shoes that I have but I particularly liked the style of this bag and the size. Many over the body bags which I looked at were very small and wouldn't allow me to put much more than my purse in them. This bad is roomy, I can easily fit my purse, phone, small brush, some make up and my perfume in it and have room to spare. It has an adjustable strap so it can be worn at different lengths and I really like the fact that it has lots of little compartments. The are pockets at the front under the twist lock, one behind a zip and pockets inside too. It means i can easily lay my hands on things without having to rummage at the button of the bag for items which I know are there, but I just can't locate. Overall this is a neat little bag which holds a good amount of stuff and comes in at a reasonable price too.
==Overview== I bought this bag from New Look a few years back as I wanted an over-the-body bag for taking on my summer holidays. The bag is made from tan leather-look material and feels soft to touch rather than rough like leather. The bag was around £8 when I bought it and I have used it on holidays and back in the UK many time since. ==Features== The bag has a top zip on it which is the main compartment of the bag. It also has a small zip pocket on the side (see picture on DooYoo) and then has another pocket on the front which is the "twist lock" part of the bag. Although the bag appears to be quite small (approx 20cm in height), you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in there! I don't use it in the UK as my main bag as my purse is enormous but for holidays or days out here where I don't need my full array of credit/debit and loyalty cards I can fit a small purse, packet of tissues, small sun tan lotion, medication, phone, a couple of biscuits (in case I feel faint in the heat) - all with room to spare! The benefit of having a small bag means you have to be really thoughtful about how much to put in it so this means that although the essential items are with me, I can't overfill it with rubbish that I don't need which is good as this means that the bag is not too heavy to carry around with me. The small zip pocket is handy but not very deep so I tend to put my medication in there. The twist-lock part of the bag is unfortunately not very well designed as the pouch is quite deep so you can get bulky items in there but they are prone to falling out of the sides quite easily. It would be a great place to put your mobile phone but you couldn't take the risk as it may well fall out. I tend to keep my tissues and biscuits in this part of the bag. ==Performance== The bag has a useful adjustable strap on it which allows you to adjust the bag based on how tall you are (very useful if you are a shorty like me!). In terms of wear and tear, I have used this bag a lot, probably 60+ days every year for the last three years but unfortunately the "leather" look has started to wear away and you can see the material underneath. As it is a tan bag, it doesn't look too bad as tan can wear and the "faded" and "worn" look can be quite trendy but I think this bag has now sadly gone beyond trendy and needs to be put to sleep in bag heaven. Unfortunately until I find a replacement, I'm reluctant to get rid of it as it is really a very good sized bag. The strap is slightly worn in terms of cosmetics but just as strong as the day I bought it. ==Overall== The bag is a great bag with lots of room. It is a shame about the twist lock part being so unreliable. As for the wear and tear, I have used this bag an awful lot so for £8 I can not complain but it isn't a bag you could expect to last years if you plan on using it frequently. I would definitely buy this or this style of bag again, just don't put anything precious in the twist-lock part of it. For the price I paid, this little bag has done me proud.
Not wanting to spend tens or hundreds on a handbag like some people love to do, I always opt for cheaper high street stores for a more affordable option. Especially as I wear through bags very quickly and have to buy new ones often. I found this about 6 or 7 months back in New Look for only £9.99! It came in a number of different colours including brown, black and grey. I think there is also a creamy/beige colour too. I opted for the brown/tan colour as I find that it's the most neutral colour and will match the most outfits, and it also matches my favourite boots! There are also bags in a similar style but with different patterns, such as floral ones. So there is a style of this bag to suit everyone's tastes and outfits. The bags strap is adjustable so you can use it on one shoulder at your preferred length or extend it to use across the body. Wear it however you want to! There are three pockets - the main section of the bag, a very small front pocket which is handy for keys or something smaller, and another small pocket on the front which is opened by a twist lock, hence it's name. This little pocket is extra handy for items such as your mobile phone which you may want to access quickly and easily. It is very easy to get in and out of but is also still very secure, no chance of your belongings falling out unnoticed. I used this bag every day for about 5 months and it barely looked worn, besides the odd dirt mark which you can easily wipe off with a damp cloth because of its material. Compared to other bags I have owned previously, this one is excellent, previous bags would look overly worn and tattered after this much use. I am unsure as to whether the bag is still being sold in stores, the last I saw of it was a couple of months back when the price had dropped to less than £5! What a bargain! If you can still get your hands on one of these bags, buy it! It's definitely worth its price.
This is a really great bag. I bought it last fall at newlook.com while looking for a new purse, but instead I just fell in love with this across the shoulder bag! I love the style it portrays, mixing hipster with fashionista, and perfect for my morning strolls around New York City! It only took about a week to be delivered to my house, which was great because I wanted to start using it right away! The bag has a few different compartments, a front pocket closed with a latch, a smaller pocket inside that pocket for phones/etc., a zipper pocket on the front, and a zipper across the top. It also has a stylish, adjustable strap that can be used as a crossbody strap or a shoulder bag! The bag is very good quality too, and its color is perfect! (It doesn't wear away like some bags tend to do) I'm able to keep a lot in this bag, usually I use it for shopping/ walking around NYC, so there's room for a water bottle, wallet, sunglasses, phone, camera, metro ticket, makeup bag, and light sweater. Although there is quite a lot of room for a small bag, its not huge though so don't buy this and be expecting a huge bag, its really more of a small bag. I have a feeling this bag was made very well. In the time that I've had it, nothing has fallen off or rusted, and the leather has not worn away at all. The latch on the front is still easy to use, and the strap, despite it being used a ton, is still in prime condition. I use this bag almost every day, so I'm almost surprised that this bag is such good quality and still in a good price range! Most people I know don't buy bags based on quality and price, though, the buy them for their style. This bag matches really great with almost everything that I own, it works with browns, blacks, whites, blues, and even some reds and purples! I love to use it as a crossbody bag over dresses and skirts, and the little gold plates on it match some of my favorite gold necklaces! Overall, I think this is an amazing bag, and was definitley worth the money. If you're in need for a bag, look no further, its right here!
I am a total girly girl and love having various shoes and handbags to match my outfits. For this reason I am a huge fan of sales and picking up accessories dirt cheap. A few months ago in the New Look sale I purchased 2 of these and therefore will be reviewing today. I have seen bags like this available from various places bu this particular one is available from all New Look stores. I only see a floral print of this bag available online but when I purchased there was white, black, brown, grey and beige. I wasn't aware of a floral one. There are other similar style bags available however. They may still have them instore but to be honest it was 3/4 months ago at least I got mine so I have no idea if they will still be in stock. I paid just £4.99 each for these instead of the RRP of £9.99. Bargain in my opinion! The bag can either be used as a long handled shoulder bag or across the body bag which is personally how I use it. I found that the strap was more than long enough to be comfortable and even over my jacket (it's september now) there was still more than enough room. There are 3 external pockets, a large one, the main part of the bag which is closed by a zip at the top. A further zip pocket is located on the front of the bag and is the perfect size for holding things like pens, lipglosses and such like. On the bottom front is a pocket that is closed by a 'twist and lock' system. Basically a metallic loop slots through a slit and twists, locking the pocket shut. It is easy to operate and I haven't had it break or come away at all. The pocket itself I find is on the medium side for a bag of this side, room for small bits and pieces but I wouldn't say anything much. The main part of the bag is very roomy for what looks to be rather small. I can fit a small make up bag, purse (a large one) phone, keys (that have a bunch of keyrings attached), bits of paper, a small diary, antibacterial handgel, wipes etc so there is plenty of room in there. A small secret compartment held closed by a zip is good for keeping 'lady products' or spare money, phone numbers, cigarettes, mints etc. Whilst a phone pocket snugly holds your mobile. I would say though this is not meant for large phones, I have a Galaxuy Samsung S and I found it diffuclt to not only fit but stay put, the material just wasn't large enough to fit round. The bag has a very nice look to it, the stitching is neat and clean with the zips strong and sturdy. I have got things caught and I have never had a problem with the zip snagging or getting caught. The colours are very dark and true to what you imagine although if using the white beware of denim marks rubbing orr as even washing won't remove this. The bag washes very well at a regular 30 degree temeprature with a minute amount of washing powder. It looks wipe clean but feels almost like leather but it doesn't look fake at all, just very man made in my opinion. This is a small bag but I find perfect for going into town, it holds a decent amount of stuff, stays put without having to keep readjusting it, is sturdy and versatile. Washes well, doesn't look cheap in the slightest and overall is a great little purchase. If you do see it I would recommend you pick one up. An excellent 4 stars from me.
I got this in a recent sale in store at New Look, and paid a bargain price of £4 (reduced from £9.99). It is definetly my kind of bag - very vintage looking and it is quite a sophisticated bag if that makes sense. It's also very versatile and can be used for work/university or just days out and about. This is a 'distressed' leather look bag but the material is actually man made which is obvious when touching it (it has a plasticy feel to it), but looking at it you can't tell it's man made in my opinion as it has such detail. My bag is a dark chocolate brown colour which stitching detail however there was a choice of colours when i bought this including black, white, grey and beige, however it is sold out online at the moment so i am unsure if this is still for sale - i'd reccomend if you are interested to have a look in your local store. It has a long strap which can be adjusted, at its longest it goes just past my knees! I'm only 5'3 though so on taller people it will be shorter, obviously i don't wear it at its longest and i usually wear it so it comes to my waist as that way it's easy to get stuff out while on the go. The bag can go over the shoulder for a satchel or be used as a shoulder bag, although i usually use mine as an over the shoulder bag/satchel, because i find it's more comfortable and also people can't run past and snatch the bag off of my shoulder. The bag has various compartments including a pouch on the front which has the 'twist lock' on it, it is quite cheap feeling but it looks good and because it's painted gold it adds to the vintage look. There is a zip at the top with a compartment, which i use for my purse and iPod as i feel it is more secure. On each corner of the bag there is golden stud detailing. It's not a huge bag, but it does manage to hold alot of stuff! I usually put around 5/6 items in it including A5 books, iPod, makeup, my purse, keys etc and there is usually still a bit more room for more if needed, i've never found the size a problem but if you have large books etc or are looking for a bag big enough for a laptop then this isn't for you. The pocket is handy because it can be opened and closed without fiddling about with zips etc, the lock never gets stuck at all. I thought the pocket would be really small and cramped but it's actually a decent size and can hold a decent amount of items. I have had this for around 4 months now and unfortunetly it has 'chipped' a bit, so there are white marks on it, they are only small but as they are on the front of the bag they're really noticeable so i don't use this bag as much as i used to, other then that it has lasted well and the compartments inside have stayed reasonably clean which is lucky as i doubt that this bag can be washed. Overall this bag is okay, it's not ideal for uni use though as it's not large enough for all of my books etc, but for casual use when out in town etc. I'm glad i bought this in the sale though and don't think it was worth its full price of £9.99, but for £4 it was a bargain.
I seem to go through a phase every now and again of buying new handbags, I never spend a great deal on a bag as I get bored of using the same one very quickly. On one of my last shopping trip for a handbag I found myself in New Look, where I came across this New Look Twist Lock Bag. I took a liking to it and decided to buy one in black for £9.99 ~My New Look Twist Lock Bag~ My New Look bag measures 10 inches in length by 9 1/2 inches in width and is made from 100% polyurethane, I like the feel of the bag as it's very soft to touch, it has a very long shoulder strap which when extended to longest length measures 24 inches from bag to top point of strap, I can have the strap like this if I want to wear it across my body or it can be adjusted to any length that suits me so it sits neatly on my shoulder, I usually wear the bag at it's smallest length as it's quicker and easier to pick up and put down, it has two big silver metal hoops holding the strap in place which are attached to the bag itself. Across the top of the bag is a zip fastening with a leather look loop for pulling the zip backwards and forwards. ~What My bag is Like~ Situated on the front of the bag close to the top is another zip which has a leather look loop that opens up to reveal a small pocket, not very big though, I put pens, money off coupons and things like that in it. Underneath the zip pocket is a bigger pocket which extends out from the bag which has a twist lock fastening, my twist lock is silver, I really like this little lock, it's easy to open and when I twist it shut it again it feels really secure. There are the eight little silver studs situated in two's in the four corners of the front of the bag, I think the silver looks nice against the black distressed leather look of the bag. I find the bag to be made quite well and of quite good quality as well, I think it will last quite a while before it starts to look worse for wear. ~What I can fit in my bag~ In the front pocket I can fit my purse, which fits just nicely, my purse is quite chunky and I was surprised it did actually fit, this pleases me as I like to keep my purse separate from everything else, as it's the thing I seem to use the most in my bag. Inside the actual bag itself there isn't a lot of room, the black 100% polyester lining seems to take up a lot of room inside the bag, but there is a small zip pocket on the back side of the bag and a pocket for my mobile phone on the front side, again these pockets aren't very big and I don't really tend to use them. I can fit my mobile phone, cheque book (soon to be a thing of the past) my car keys and a small wallet which holds credit cards etc. at a squeeze I can fit my cigarettes and lighter in as well and that's about it, but even then the bag seems too full to me, I can't fit my make up bag inside the bag but this isn't really a problem for me personally as I don't carry make up with me, on a day to day basis anyway, but for those of you that do like to carry a make up bag around with you, it is worth thinking about before you purchase. ~Using my bag~ I've had the bag for a couple of months now, it is still like new so I haven't had any need to clean it at all, however a quick wipe down with a damp cloth should be enough to keep it looking good as new, should the need to clean arise. Again the inside of the bag could just be wiped out with a damp cloth as well. I do like the bag it's nice to wear and feels comfortable on my shoulder, it doesn't keep slipping off like numerous other bags I have do. I have used it on numerous occasions, mainly for daytime use but I do feel it's a bit small for me as I like room in my bag for lots of junk, since whenever I'm out with the family I end up being the pack horse and usually have to carry everything, so really it makes sense for me to use a bigger bag. I've since been out and purchased another, bigger bag which I find better suits my needs. This bag I continue to use but more for going out in the evening or for when I'm going somewhere where I know I won't end up having to carry everything for everyone else. ~Other information~ This bag is currently out of stock on the New Look website and it looks like they only had the bag available in white anyway, but it had been reduced to £5.00 they must have been popular, you can still purchase the bag from New Look stores though, black and brown were the only colors available when I purchased my bag. I'm giving 3 stars for this bag as I do like it but it's a bit small and I can't use it as much as I'd like to. Thank you for reading my review which may also be posted on other sites.
Shoulder bags and across body bags appear to be everywhere at the moment. I am not an avid follower of fashion, as my budget doesn't allow for it; however I recently treated myself to a new handbag for work, so thought it was time to pick something more fashionable. No doubt that bags like these will be out of fashion in a few months, but as I like to keep things for a long time it is a bag that I will be using for a few more years yet. I now prefer bags that have a shoulder strap as it is easier for me to wear them across my body when I drop off my Son at Nursery, as I frequently have to run after him whilst carrying his rucksack and I find a bag with short handles awkward in these situations. The Twist Lock bag was purchased from New Look and cost £9.99. I bought the bag in the colour Stone as it is a versatile colour which goes well with my clothes. It is also available in Black, Grey, Tan and White. It has Gold coloured twist lock, zips and studs. The Twist Lock bag is made from distressed looking Leather, has a twist lock flap over front, zip fastened pocket and long adjustable strap. The main pocket has a zip, so can be fully fastened. The pocket is big enough to hold a large purse, slim diary, beauty case, aerosol deodorant etc and has a pocket to hold a mobile phone. Most bags with mobile phone pockets cater for very small phones but this pocket is quite big and is large enough to hold a Smartphone. There is also an internal zipped pocket which will hold more than just a set of car keys and a few beauty products. On the outside of the bag there is a large pocket which fastens through the use of the twist lock. There is plenty of room in this front pocket and it can extend out a little if full and still fasten without any problems without putting any strain on the lock. This pocket is best to hold slim items, such as pens, cosmetics etc. It does not extend enough to hold a purse or thick diary. There is also a short zipped lock on the outside of the bag. This pocket will hold a set of car keys and that's about it. However the more you place in the outside pockets the less space you will have in the main pocket. The strap is adjustable and if I adjust the strap to the longest it will go, the bottom of the bag almost reaches my knees (I am 5ft 5inch tall). Likewise, if adjusted to the shortest it will go, the bottom of the bag sits just above my hip. For a small bag the New Look Twist Lock Bag it is quite deceptive, as you can carry quite a lot of things in this bag and it's not bulky. The only disadvantage about this bag, as with most bags, is that if the inside pocket gets dirty it can be hard to clean. There is only one thing you can do and that is to pull the inside pocket out of the bag and clean with a sponge and soapy water. Overall, I recommend New Look Twist Lock Bag as it is the perfect size for me, stylish, doesn't get in the way as it has a long adjustable shoulder strap and is a good price at £9.99. The only disadvantage is that it's not easy to clean the inside; however I do not carry food in this bag so it's not a problem. For further information, please visit: www.newlook.com.
